Very unfortunate to hear of this. You’re too tough and needed by the citizens of Kelowna for this to hold you down for long Charlie. Wishing you the very best for a speedy and full recovery.

Very sad to hear about Charlie. We first met when he and I were volunteering for The Iridian Project, a program to help get at-risk youth get off the streets. We went on to do The Iridian Night of the Arts at The Kelowna Community Theatre. Charlie lined up many of the most talented musicians in the valley to do the show. He had some health issues at that time, but was able to power through them. He helped with setting up all the bands equipment, and even paid for refreshments for the performers out of his own pocket.I got to know him quite well during that period (2005-2007). All I can say is he is a very decent, caring man, and it was a real pleasure working with him. I always looked forward to reading his column "HodgePodge". Get well, Charlie! Kelowna needs a guy like you.

I don't know him personally but from this and other things I know of him, it's easy to tell he's a real good egg - seems he's always been the one constant we could count on in council and so down to earth - he's always been there for "we the people" and now hopefully we can be there for him with our very best wishes....

I don't disagree about the dental part but this has nothing to do with his dental problems and everything to do with his COPD.

Charlie was having great difficulty breathing and they are not sure what caused it to elevate to him needing assistance in breathing.

Mt DW has been a friend of Charlie since about the 2nd grade. She heard from his wife this morning that he is improving and off the ventilator. He is sitting up in bed (still in ICU) and asking for her Christmas shortbread cookies.

Good news and we hope he is able to go home soon.
