The PROBLEM is much bigger

No argument here BUT in the meantime, we have to look out for ourselves and prevent what's immediately happening which is rampant theft, vandalism etc. All we can do is address our immediate concerns. The powers that be that we "elected" have told us they have a plan, that they ARE doing something to remedy things. However, that plan is going to take years - well,we don't have years to sit around twiddling our thumbs and do nothing so being pro-active is all we can do and the only way to go these days.

It's a new day and age and not a pretty one. We can't count on laws anymore. We can't count on enforcement of those laws anymore. Calling the police won't stop a break-in. They work after the fact now. We can't count on the judicial system to do a damn thing.

Not much we can do but lock out and deny access to our businesses to those who have nefarious reasons for entering and that would be pretty much anyone who wants in with their identity hidden, or that you see acting in an agitated or aggressive manner on the camera - you CAN make it perfectly clear that won't be happening so they can hit the road.

Businesses who do this will be "smart" and rising up to meet the problems presented head-on of doing business in today's world.

It has zero to do with making things difficult for a respected customer (who will totally understand and support the idea) - only someone who has no clue what is going on in the world would penalize a business if they were asked to use a buzzer system. It's a no brainer in my mind and I will gladly continue to shop my favourites when they install buzzers.

Actually I think Wild Kingdom over on Lawrence has those covers ... after all the trouble they've had they really upgraded and I know as I've walked past there after hours it was shuttered tight

Maybe start charging cabbies for being an accessory to a crime.
