Police at Orchard Park

Lol, yes, history does in fact count MAP, and it was exactly this guy’s history that led to the appropriate response in ensuring his apprehension. As was pointed out above, he almost mowed down innocent bystanders, children - just like yours, while attempting to elude a year ago. Glad those responsible saw to it history did not repeat itself this time.

sure Wally I get it ....

Look into history and see if (snerk) a cop ever shot anyone by accident ..

THAT is my point and most likely the reason, or excuse, that you can't even discharge a sling shot in your own backyard in this city ...
I payed attention in High school....But not to what they were trying to teach me..

I’d like to think this was one previously discussed outcome in preparation for this apprehension, especially given the subject’s “history”. It’s a calculated risk, and one I would hope the IIO deems warranted as such, especially given the success, although most know it’s a *bleep* shoot anytime they’re involved. No one’s going to deny there have been innocent bystanders become casualties in police involved shootings which in reality are rare despite what some think. They weren’t exactly acting like guests at an Iraqi wedding reception celebrating with their Ak’s.

It is indeed Rupert , but I wasn't the one who said this is a "one time" thing ...

History counts when it comes to things like this .

I agree to a degree MAP that history counts, but each incident should be debated on it’s own merits. What I was getting at earlier was the other poster trying to twist this into a claim that some people on here support giving police the roles of judge, jury and executioner because of the shortcomings of the court system. I don’t think that is the case with those discussing this specific incident. The police may have used more force than we usually see to apprehend this individual, but their knowledge of his background necessitated that response. In one of the previous attempts to arrest him, he used a vehicle to injure a police officer. I’m guessing they didn’t want that to happen again.

Do others wonder how this person was allowed to revolve thru our Court / Legal System so many times & nobody said hold it this isn't working ? Why is there no accountability from those in charge & some splaining isn't required ? How many "oops" do criminals get ?

Could that be the problem - that this person does think of it as an action movie ? It's a lot of fun & nothing really goes wrong ? Maybe when this case comes to court those in charge will finally see there's a real problem which requires more than just talking with a councillor & a bit of probation ?

Kinda changes the precedent for the people that think they can ram their way
out of tight situations as they pursue their illegal activities.
There will be consequence.

Under this logic, the police should shoot at most people crossing the bridge.

There aren't pedestrians to watch out for on the bridge.

No, I stopped wondering long ago.

We are a country of bleeding hearts that love to believe that criminals are just misunderstood and that everyone can be rehabilitated. Give them a hug, a warm jacket and send them on their way we'll all feel so good about ourselves. Virtue signalling is the new normal and our willingness to elect "leaders" like JT, the King-of-all-Virtue Signallers himself, has people tripping all over themselves trying to see who can "out-PC" the others. The days of anyone ever being held truly accountable for their own actions are long gone.
