Sige wrote:Although I heartily agree with you, it is definitely going to make for good discussion. After all, we kill other animals for meat, and not always humanely.
The difference being in our culture we usually do not kill and consume cats and dogs.
Now if we go to china it is a practice that many do and support (I never want to travel to or support chinese products).
If we go to India I believe (?) cows are sacred.
So here we sit in Canada and the majority probably feel killing
and consuming cats and dogs is not ok.
We do not even know if their ad was true.
Maybe the animals would be tortured or starved.
Anyone who would sell their pet to these people is a whole other case of cruel.
Maybe the ad is for these people.Karin and Catherine Adams have recently been released
from jail and are traveling between Alberta and B.C. (because of court cases) and
have already been seen by people in what looks like suspicious activity. (ie: buying a bunch of dog crates
when they are court ordered not to have any animals).

Start something like this, and maybe you'll create an underground market for pet theft.
I could see this happening.

that market exists already
Say a pure bred pug is $1,000. someone sees yours in the backyard and is gone with it in seconds.
Next day there is an ad on castanet. We are moving and can't keep our pug. need to sell to good home. Priced at 600 for quick sale.
and everyone runs over to get the good deal

Yes it does. Seriously, it couldn't look more so unless it had "TROLL" in big neon letters across the top. I am surprised that anyone is taking it seriously. It was probably placed by an animal rights activist to point out what they see as the hypocrisy of eating livestock, but not pets. Castanet pulled the ad, but did they actually contact the person who placed it to investigate before they reported it as "news"?voice of reason wrote:it reads like a troll ad

Re: Will buy pets for meat.
I will admit this is a little tasteless but we here in Canada should be tolerant. Who are we to judge. There may be more going on here than is apparent at first glance. Freedom of religion is a right here in Canada and this may be a religious thing. This may be tasteless but our way of life is not the way of the world and there is more going on then dreamt of in your philosophy. My problem is just how heavy to weigh in on this as I fear castanet will block me as well.

discuss the topic. the off topic posts that some of you consider "funny" are not and do nothing but derail the thread. thx.

What's the difference between slaughtering a dog, a horse, or a cow for it's meat?

This "news" story should never have been posted to begin with. They should have deleted the ad and left it at that. What's the point? What, for a few clicks and some forum discussions??

Hello, although I do not Condon animal abuse or anything of the sort as a low income person, I can understand how this may be a source of food for some. Living here is very expensive and hard to do expecially with how low income is compared to alother provinces. By all means though I would probably not slaughter domestic animals though if I was starving I would

The ad was on castanet.
I saw it before it was taken down and you can imagine the
conversation about it on facebook.
