Although I heartily agree with you, it is definitely going to make for good discussion. After all, we kill other animals for meat, and not always humanely.

it is perfectly allowed and not a thing wrong with it. Food, especially protein is super expensive.

So if nothing is illegal about it then why did Castanet remove the listing?

it is legal to eat dogs and cats in Canada. It is illegal to kill them in way that causes suffering. No different than a chicken, cow, pig, cricket, horse or any other animal. Animals are property here.

Why not ask the SPCA, or breed animals? Why ask the general public? People who have paid $600 for their cat probably don't want or care about getting $10. No one cares how so called loving you are if the end result is an early death. Is it cheaper to eat domesticated pets rather than store bought cow or chicken? The pay-out must be pretty low. If I can get a huge turkey at $0.99/lb, does that mean they are paying less? Will they only give you a tooney for for your 8lb Queeny?? ;-)

Start something like this, and maybe you'll create an underground market for pet theft.

The article states:

The stomach-turning ad, since removed, has been blocked by Castanet and the poster banned following this bizarre listing

One culture’s pet is another culture’s dinner. I’ve kept reptiles as pets my entire life (severe saliva/dander allergies) but I respect other people’s right to eat them providing they are slaughtered humanely. The same is true for Gunea Pigs and Rabbits. Just because ‘we’ find something cute, it doesn’t mean that particular species of critter is somehow exempt from the food chain.

If you are a meat eater watch the 2018 documentary film Dominion on YouTube then come back here and tell us why eating cats and dogs is "sickening".

If you can't even watch that film but can still eat meat then you have no right to claim this is sickening or call yourself an "animal lover".

It is very simple, if you eat commercially processed meat you are paying another person to cruelly abuse animals for your pleasure. Nothing extremist about it, it is simply a fact.

my bad Scrobin! I thought you meant the news article was not up

i'm sure castanet removed the article because they are a private organization and the rules of free speech do not apply. As a private entity they are free to put any rules into their classifieds as they see fit.

Most (in this country) would agree eating fluffy is bad. but the law is clear, it is not illegal, as long as fluffy doesn't suffer

legal doesn't always equal moral and moral doesn't always equal legal
