I sure hope this fellow is wrong about it being a done deal.....it will be horrible IMHO....I can't imagine this monstrosity being allowed to go through where they want it....but then again, this is Kelowna/West Kelowna so.... yeah.......

I don't think people really understand the scope of this proposed development:

Butt ugly....Yet another scar on a beautiful shoreline.
Trying to think of something profound, and full of wisdom to place here...any suggestions?

Interesting, however, that this is being pushed through early in the Civic election term, with the hopes that citizens will forget years later?

Over 80% are opposed to it.

Casa Loma has only a single entry/exit rural road infrastructure. Many in the Casa Loma (and general West Kelowna community) are concerned about fire safety, density, traffic in the community, traffic on the bridge, water issues, environmental destruction, and incompatibility with the rest of the lower-density Official Community Plan. In addition, there is a large marina and commercial area being proposed on and around the ALR land that is currently a productive peach and apricot orchard. A summary from the developer’s most recent project update (as of Spring 2018):

Its a monstrosity of a development and wouldn't help with the housing crisis much as its targeted for luxury hotel and condos. I am concerned about impacts of traffic and impacts to adjacent Kalamoir park. Very much hoping this development doesn't proceed.

You nailed it Fancy! My gosh it's absolutely massive in size and massive in ugly - when you look at the pic that opens with this link it's mind boggling that it would even get a first look let alone approval. They are completely out of their natural minds to think plunking that behemoth on the lakeside is going to enhance anything!

They advertise it as:

Project Highlights

A development integrated into the natural landscape.
:200: It's an early April Fool's joke right?

Think of the increase in traffic alone!!

Who has final say on this - West Kelowna counci,l or is it on native land, or is it a joint venture?

Actually, maybe it is City of Kelowna? You don't see a Welcome to West Kelowna sign until quite a ways up the hill - maybe it is part of City of Kelowna....I could see that council saying yes - looks like something right up their alley!

I can't imagine anyone but certainly not First Nations allowing this thing to desecrate their land!

I'd be a little concerned living above that. Bridgeview Road and Alexander Place must be having fits.

So? Those folks could end up having damage to their homes - who knows what will happen with the blasting.
