Wondering why people don't lock their vehicles while they are shopping is not any kind of "old school" and the warning was repeated on this thread:

Global News reported on the rise of property crime. Lock up your stuff seems to have become a lost message for some strange reason.

Before Maxine and the real estate cabalists arrived it was normal to NOT have to lock up anything; Houses, cars, businesses etc.

One could go to the local bar all night with a rifle in the pickup gun rack and ammunition in the glove box, and nobody thought to steal.

Cut to today. They (Maxine's cabalist cohort) have built it (KelVanCalgTorEdmontowna), and they (thieves, reprobates, real estate laundering drug dealers, murderers and criminals of all ilk) have now come here en masse.

All thanks to Maxine and her cabalist cohorts; yet their simplistic, "let them eat cake" solution is to lock stuff up? Ask any cop investigating crimes here. Locked up or not, stuff will be stolen, homelessness is on the rise, drug deaths are rampant etc.

Can't help but wonder if Kelowna would have been better off without all this so called "development"...

Ian Tyson was on the radio talking about this area years ago. I remember his quote. He said. Some call it progress. You could tell the disgust in his voice. Old timers are fed up with what Kelowna has become.

many people say change is good, in this case the change that has happened in kelowna the last 20 years is horrible, yes the drug problem is across canada , but the way this city is dealing with it, imo we are way worse off than most city's are size

....and here I am sounding like a broken record yet again.....

I firmly believe that these problems have beginnings.....

(1) opiods should NEVER have been prescribed for at home, unsupervised use. They should have remained as in-hospital pain meds to be only used very short-term.

(2) Homelessness, of those who are not in a criminal or drug lifestyle, should have NEVER been lumped in with addicts who become homeless due to drug abuse. The true homeless (down on their luck) should have been identified and housed and/or admitted to a facility for treatment if needed in each case.

(3) For those, homeless or not, who abuse drugs and live a life of crime to support habits, ENFORCEMENT and CONSEQUENCE should NEVER have been deleted from the game plan and need to return to play a big part. Anyone who shows up in front of a Judge (if they get that far), who pleads drug addiction as a cause to their criminal activity for a 2nd time, should be sentenced to MANDATORY rehab OR jail - the choice is theirs - but either way, they are not going to be getting their drugs whenever they want them. Sure, drugs get into rehab and jails, and the people in those rehabs and jails who are responsible for allowing that should be held accountable.

(4) Detox, rehab, and skills training for those who want to quit drugs and to enter back into mainstream society should be readily and easily available when they need it - wait times should NEVER have been allowed to get this long.

Now, in my mind, somebody made these bad decisions. Who, or what agencies, were/are in charge of making these particular decisions? They need to be brought to account, corrections made, and we need to return to dealing with issues as they happen, and not lumping them all under one category labelled "homelessness".

We need to realize that laws exist for a reason and that creating a lawless environment (which is what happens when enforcement stops) is exacerbating the problems not making them better.

I think its all part of the plan. First make people compassionate. Then dump the savages on them. Then blame the actual victims. Vote for a raise. Repeat.
