shut up stupid people.
you are wrong.
your mayor told you that.
why do you insist that your opinion matters?
what is wrong with you?
Don't you know that you are stupid and Colin is right?

Re: Fear not warranted
Mayor Colin Basran has totally lost touch with the residents of Rutland.
This is a wrong location for a recovery house.
Period. End of story.
Rutland residents should start a daily phone campaign to
Mayor's office and
B.C. Housing.

Basran is correct, Kelowna is perfectly safe. I’m very happy our mayor is doing such a good job.

I am forced to keep my pedal bike in my living room, and have installed security system and cameras around my house.
But fear isnt warrented ....
What about fear of my hard earned property getting stolen!?!?!

Re: Fear not warranted
boy, his priorities are screwed up..he was more upset about the Spec Tax being imposed here, took his concerns all the way to the Premier for a meeting telling him how it would just kill Kelowna's RE..and yet putting wet facilities in residential neighbors seems ok ??

Re: Fear not warranted
This is the part that really made me smh...
Seriously? That's his argument? Someone has to die before he'd consider changing his stance?
How many children have died as a result of a supportive housing unit being located in our city? No children, as far as I know, have been killed downtown because of residents in Cardington.

Your fears and your precautionary measures are warranted. Sad to say, but that is what Kelowna has become.

Re: Fear not warranted
Also, the kids can't even ride their bikes to school and lock them.
Because these hapless junkies who can't work CAN apparently work at stealing bikes all night and day. And guess what is next door? A GIANT bike rack! All theirs for the picking! Some with easy to cut cable locks and some will need more work, but the parts will still be worth money right? WOW! I can see the letter to Colin now:
"Thank you Basan and your ilk for providing for my habit. And next to a smourg of bikes too!"

Re: Fear not warranted
I just had a thought that a new type of neighbourhood watch program needs to be implemented.
Five days a week. The school bike racks, needs people who can bring chairs and umbellas and coolers, and cell phones and just sit there, watching. Watching the bike racks, that is.
Pretty soon those wily bike thieves will cotton on to when someone isn't available for a shift or two, and BAM. But we can't be fearful of that, right Basan?

Re: Fear not warranted
I haven't been up there to take a look, but I do wonder where the giant bike buffet is located in regards to the wet facility.
Close? Right beside it? Other side?
Does it have to be moved? Fenced in? Maybe kids with bikes have to register their bike on line with a school program, seriel number, colour, make, model, receipt, specifying who can also take the bike, (parent, guardian). Why? Because the RCMP says that even though a known tweaker may have a bike in their possession, it's hard to prove it was stolen.
Well, this way the RCMP would be able to access the data bank and CHECK.

Re: Fear not warranted
Funny..
From the layout in the article why don't we see any of these supported houses going up on lakeshore? Mission? Glenmore? Dilworth? Need I go on?
But having 5 in a short 1 mile radius in Rutland is seen as "just fine" by Kelowna City council??
Like I have stated before, ship em out to Rutland so the tourists won't see them.

[b]Hmm, 1,300 parents are still in mourning after loosing their kids to OD's last year!
Do those children lives not count?
Drug users often deal to feed their own habit...so most wet facilities definitely have drug dealers.[/b
Our Major needs better representation(and information!) before making his speeches...lol]
