New Costco: Timeline?

The traffic study was done by someone making over 100,000 dollars a year.

It said :

"Traffic sucks currently around Costco, so there will be no real difference moving it a couple blocks down the street, traffic is still going to suck"

I trust random people on the internet much more than "experts" who have never apparently driven a car around the general Costco area on a Friday afternoon. I also trust that a random person would actually try to find a BETTER location instead of basically making the same traffic mess PLUS throw in (what will end up being) the cheapest gas station in town.

I can't wait to see the gas lineups and "assault/road rage" stories stemming from this location.

Years and years worth of entertainment!

I think it's very generous for the city of kelowna to provide overflow parking with controlled lights across the street at mission creek park...we all know it's very easy to find parking at Costco and lots of parking on the street in that area.....tax payers should pay for a shopping cart storage at mission creek so these can be parked safely... Pity some of these "random people on the internet" aren't all that intelligent.

If you want entertainment go watch tourists (and some locals) try and launch their boats!

New location will have almost 300 more parking stalls. Doubt people will have to park across the street. Besides, people are lazy, that's a long walk.

Funny, I've parked in that area daily for years and rarely struggle to find a spot. Try the library parkade next time, it almost always has capacity. This is that small town mentality I was speaking about. In the big city, having to pay $6/day for parking and only having to walk a block to your parking spot is a huge win.
At the time, there was a heck of a lot of parking available in that area, just not free parking.

Clearly a visitor and not an area resident.
I wonder how many Rockets games the poster attended last year and where they parked for them?

At least Costco is providing "somewhat" adequate parking for the occupancy number of the building.

Costco is going from "somewhat" to more than adequate. Time will prove me right.

Interesting how Costco generates so much interest.
Here is my take...All speculation of course.
Costco decides to move. Gets a great deal from Victor projects(Bennetts).
Costco claims the new site will be 25% larger. Larger than what? It will be 167 thousand square feet, with 793 parking spaces.
Is the actual building 25% larger or is most given over to parking? If the goal is to provide a gas bar, it would be cheaper to take over the Esso gas bar(.Costco owns the land.)Take over part of the strip mall.
Costco who owns the real estate of the current store, might already have some lucrative ideas for the old site....
Here is another twist.
Was their a land swap between Costco and Victor..?
More to the story that we don't know

It's a Chevron station and Costco most definitely does NOT OWN THE LAND or Chevron would have been gone before the present Costco opened.

It's pretty quiet there on Friday after 5:00 PM. A complete zoo beforehand but lots of parking and no till lineups once people are home eating their chicken dinner.

Wasn't the addition of a gas bar one of the reasons for the move?

It was certainly on Costco's wish list and was in the plans from the start.

I'm surprised at the truth's question because it was common knowledge.
