What is happening in the Green Way east of Leckie, they are knocking down trees and clearing the park area.
will it be a more parking or a temporary detour for the road construction that is going to happen.

Re: New Costco: Timeline?
Cool, nice to see more parking being added, and a second picnic shelter.
Hoping to see construction start on the new Costco, soon.

They need a sign at these self checkout areas like they have at amusement parks......."YOU MUST BE THIS TALL TO GO ON THIS RIDE"............at self-checkouts, sign would read........."YOU MUST HAVE AN IQ OF AT LEAST____".

But hey...Kelowna council says for people to take a bus.....because they have no plans on changing anything about the roads or intersections around there lol....
Then you heard wrong. There is an entire plan built around traffic congestion alleviation for the new Costco location. More lanes, turning lanes, lights.

They can widen whatever road they want in that area BUT the issue will be that you will be turning onto a road that has a stoplight or intersection a hundreds yards away and the traffic is ALREADY backed up........this area will be a nightmare. Knowing these idiots at city hall, the NEW lanes will probably be painted green so Ryan Smith and his brood can have clear sailing.........right to the hospital.

No, the entire area is being revamped including the stop lights. It is much more than just a couple lanes and turning lanes.
I will probably end up better than before. There really are not lineups waiting to get into costco now and it is just 2 lanes there.

Dilworth and Hwy 97........Dilworth and Springfield.........Leckie and Hwy 97.......all three only a 100 to a 150 yards from Baron.........good luck with this city figuring this out!

it is already figured out. It is just another store. Yes there will be more traffic there but there will not be 2 full lanes more of traffic going there all the time. That is what is being constructed. Look at the traffic going to the mall. Far more than goes into a Costco and it is handled just fine.
But it does not matter now anyway. It is a fait accompli. Just a lot of nimbys. They are at every proposal no matter where they build it. Costco obviously does not want to end up at the airport. They don't want to move to the WestSide. Where else is there that will not affect anyone or the traffic pattern?

Re: New Costco: Timeline?
they are putting a full light at underhill anyway,
why not push underhill all the way to springfield,
that will take congestion off the dilworth intersection.

Yeah! Hey, they could push Underhill through and connect it to Benvoulin...in fact, they could even change the name of it to Benvoulin and have it be a straight shot all the way from the highway to the mission! What a great idea that would be!

then they would need a giant roundabout at Benvoulin-springfield-dilworth.
i meant right turn only onto springfield from underhill.

Re: New Costco: Timeline?
No you are all wrong!
Proposal is for two flyovers from Highway 97.
One for the gas that wont be as cheap as you might think.
Another with a direct access lane to the store and electric bumper cars to take you to the hot dog, cheap chicken and toilet paper department.
To be serious, Costco is only agreed to contribute money for new road development. The rest comes from you know who.
