Where is the tallest tree in Kelowna?

Where is the tallest tree in Kelowna?

Postby featfan » Feb 1st, 2021, 11:35 am

There is a big one around Abbott and Cadder and a couple close to the hospital.
Anyone have any info on how to research this one?

Found this link - call or e-mail Park Services and see if they have the answer.

the city hired a proffesional landscape engineer to document every tree they considered to be a heritage tree.

so there for the city of kelowna should have a list of tall trees somewhere .

Fun fact: The three tallest Ponderosa pine trees in BC are in Coldstream, the tallest of which is at the Coldstream Ranch at 164 ft tall. The biggest ponderosa in terms of the circumference is in Merritt, however (18 feet vs. 12 ft).

Also, the second largest interior Douglas fir (in terms of volume) and the 2nd largest interior Dougie fir circumference is found in Peachland (just shy of 20 feet around).

It's a beautiful tree but by no means the tallest in Kelowna.

Just got a call from COK parks.
The heritage trees were never looked at for height.
They have no available data on the tall trees in Kelowna.

From the parks dept they say that is a maple?

I remember when there was a plan to move the tree.
