I'm sorry to hear this, but I'm glad she's recovering. From the photos, it looked like a really bad crash (and clearly it was), that your friend's vehicle got the worst of.

In these situations it never seems to be the perp who gets hurt.

Despite the predictions of our best and brightest, the suspect in this case was not granted bail (it's not clear if he even applied for it from the Castanet article), and will not be out to re-offend again, for the moment at least.

I'm super curious to know what this guy's story is. Armed to the teeth (two firearms and pepper spray, according to the article) and willing to go on a crime spree to try to get away. Yes, I know he's almost definitely involved in drugs/organized crime in some way, I just want to know the details.

The word alleged is so over used. Clearly guy was doing these actions... Alleged is when unclear, not sure. Used to do criminal defence for yrs...

Probably a case of “I’ve had enough” what with two years of lockdowns. Low wages in the Okanagan, rising prices etc; I could see these things driving someone completely nuts.

I mean in 2 years I have lost a job and house to Covid . Two family members. Was forced to move out of the Kelowna area where I’ve lived and worked for 20+ years due to the cost of rentals. I haven’t seen my family since before the pandemic. They live in the coast. (Floods, fires) I mean hey …that’s just me there’s people out there worse off..

The extra money in the budget should be used for to train officers to shoot straighter, if an A** ***e pulls a gun, he should be taken to the morgue!! no ifs and or buts.

The police were not present when the suspect was brandishing a weapon. Unless you're saying they should have executed him later in the day when he was arrested, the RCMP's firearm skills aren't relevant here.

I've never even handled a firearm, but it seems to me that hitting a moving target at close/medium range with a pistol isn't an easy thing to do. Not impossible, but not easy. Perhaps someone on the forum who's shot at a person before can offer some insight.

having spent many hours at the range, it's not as easy as the movies make it look, but the more you practice the better you get :smt045
