Well, don't expect society to cater to your wan... I mean "needs".BC Landlord wrote: ↑Jan 20th, 2023, 4:11 pmNo, .. what is blurred to you is the concept of individual vs collective needs. And you've got it all wrong. Neither, you nor anyone else gets to decide what my needs are. We are not a collectivist society.

And who exactly is the "society"? Is it not me?

I guess according to him no one will sell you anything you want/need.
Good luck with that, they all will go out of business if they stop selling.
I used to be in a band called "The Missing Cats"

The funny thing is the use of "not" with "collectivist" and "society" ... considering that the meaning of "society" roughly is a collection of people "forming a community of interdependent individuals" ... keyword being "interdependent"ash71 wrote: ↑Jan 20th, 2023, 4:36 pmWell, don't expect society to cater to your wan... It's interesting to observe how the culture of North America has evolved to thinking of themselves as individuals who don't have a connection to others in their community ... how we now think of street parking as belonging to "us" (meaning the individual) and should be under our individual control ...

People like that think that governments should have an upper hand on whatever people want/need, all in the name of some greater good, no matter what. The concept is called "collectivism", which is an euphemism for communism.

Almost sounds like someone is trying to determine what your needs are. Like really...what next, I only need 500 sq feet to live in.BC Landlord wrote: ↑Jan 20th, 2023, 4:11 pmNo, .. what is blurred to you is the concept of individual vs collective needs. It won't happen unless we (as populace) allow them. In fact, there is a growing push-back against this nonsense. The thing is, these people won't take a "no" for answer.
