Falling a visitors Centre and suing

Post by russcin »

We went over the holidays to skate at Stuart Park and was shocked that the sidewalk and then the walkway to the skating rink was not plowed or cleared. It was completely compacted by people walking on it. We mentioned to our company how tax rates went up 4% and services have gone down! After skating we went to the Cactus Club and from the skate park to cactus club was totally unplowed! How can a HUGE City sponsored event (the outdoor skating rink) not be maintained? Not to mention cannot use the public men’s bathroom because there are homeless people in there. Obviously the city’s contractor hasn’t plowed this area for two years from the looks of the headline on Castanet today!

I'm a runner and I've found that the worst cleared sections of sidewalk are anywhere there is City property. Beach accesses, parks, fields... residents & businesses have an obligation to clear the snow from their frontages but the City is the worst offender of them all.

Can any body tell me how many tickets have been issued in regards to the non compliance of the snow removal bylaw. Would really like to know.

Would need to file an "access to information" request to the City for that ... not hard to do if you want to know

Since I doubted anyone here had the information he was asking for I figured I would help out with the way he could get the answer he wanted ... I was researching ticket numbers for a different violation years ago and had to go through the same process to get the answer ... Bylaw was pretty good with supplying the numbers I needed after I went through the channels

well the city is out fixing potholes in -7c weather today so its not looking good for ice removal on city property. they need a big shake up down there at the works dept . that asphalt aint gonna stick at this temp and they will end up redoing it later. meanwhile sidewalks are iced up and side streets not plowed
