It's not as though there aren't better local options, in season that is, like Don O Ray, and a couple of others on Benvoulin.

Seems like produce isn't a great money maker. I noticed that the people who moved into the old Quality Greens on Spall Road, have shut the doors already, though I can't say I'm surprised.

When you go out of your way to shop at a dedicated produce store, you kind of expect top notch quality, and that was rarely the case.
Nothing beats going directly to the producer doorstep.

Added later: it was against the law for us to sell what we produced on the farm.

The farmers market should have been re located to the empty fruit packers building on clement ave, a investment into this property would have had benefits for them and kelowna for years to come. look at the pybus market in wenatchee washington- a old railway building coverted to a farmers market with year round indoor space and seasonal outdoor spaces, very successful and a great tourist draw. the planners in kelowna have never looked ahead to anticipate future needs and proper planning. just look at our road system now- thousands of more cars and people, they only keep building high rises and no new overpasses or roads to handle all the extra traffic,
all i can say is poor old kelowna- we sure missed the boat on pre planning this city.

An old argument about Clement is many people don't/won't travel there for the Farmer's Market it would service the downtown but not central enough for other areas.

Some good location ideas here. I would suggest the fallow field adjacent to FortisBC on Springfield. The Farmer’s Market is as close to an appropriate ALR application as you can get and this land will NEVER be farmed. I think the FM and the COK should approach the land owners (the Bennet Cabal?), and get them to give back to the community by way of a land donation.

ha ha ha ... ya right
The closest that will happen is they might lease it out. I don't think the Bennets ever sell their land.

Part of the reason for moving was for accessibility. And being on Springfield will still have the issue of only being accessible by car easily. At the Landmark Centre you can use a car, take transit, and ride a bike. Choices are good.

Using a vehicle at new location is going to be tricky since there is a total lack of parking.
Personally I don’t give a damn, haven’t used the Farmers Market in Kelowna in years. If and when I want to go to a Farmers Market I load up my coolers and head to Armstrong.

The Parkinson Rec parkng lot will be available, the lots around the Landmark buildings are available. Not sure how that is a "total lack of parking"

On the weekend yes you're right, on a Wednesday however not so much. Landmark area is busy on workdays and finding parking not all that simple.

Also how long do you figure, before Parkinson Rec gets annoyed, with non clients using all the parking?

Future construction there will just make it worse.

What about when they start tearing up Parkinson (putting it back to green space), with all business in the area I highly doubt there will be much street parking, especially on Wednesdays.

Exactly!

The parking lot is for people using Parkinson Rec Centre and not people going to the Farmers market.

This location for the market is the stupidest place ever!

I wouldn’t be at all surprised if vendors try this location, then drop out go either north or south.

I vaguely remember something being said about Parkinson Rec having been alright with that purpose of their parking but I think it was from one of the earliest articles about the move.

Yes, I never went to the market on Wednesday so overlooked that aspect. Though if I remember correctly that isn't as largely attended and might be handled by the parking lot there along Harvey at the restaurants. Still plenty of options.
