Some may view my above politically incorrect opinions as 'harsh' and may even be offended by them. Some think political correctness will be our undoing.

And as of the news today it appears these people and or parties were NOT in on it(only 1 or 2). The bad guys kept it hidden even from the RCMP. People that tried to speak up got fired...
Wow. Why didn't anyone notice that in Vancouver, a pile of rubble sells for 4 million?...

^^They don't notice because very little of this corruption gets reported in the MSM. You have to start reading the independent online news sites, such as the Straight, the Breaker, the Tyee, etc. Also, bloggers such as Norm Farrell, Laila Yuile, and Harvey Oberfeld do their best to keep British Columbians informed. MSM reporters such as Mike Smyth, Rob Shaw, Keith Baldrey, and Bill Good are still trying to wash the egg off their faces after badly screwing up on this latest BC Liberal scandal.

Get these sleaze bags exposed. These tactics are rampant here in BC over the past decade.

We don't have enough jail cells for all the crooked racketeering politicians and their sodomizing beaurocrats.

Government corruption is huge, and the RCMP are just as bad - they feed off each other - if we had a real federal police force to protect the citizens, we wouldn't have a government of any sort - they would all be behind bars.

BC is the highest taxed province in Canada, and any U.S. state you care to mention - including Florida and Hawaii.

So, there are at least 87 more corruptable people in BC. That's a discouraging thought.

^^ Getting back on topic . . .

It's fun for NDPers to troll and pretend that all Liberals are corrupt while all NDPers are pure as the driven snow but therein lies a problem. When there is actual corruption, and NDPers point it out, people tend to ignore it. When you call "wolf" all the time there are consequences. And then when NDP corruption is ignored it compounds the problem.

The truth is that there are dishonest people in both parties. Honest ones too and I believe there are far more of the latter. When voters look at the "corruption" issue they understand the politicking and the ever present spin when deciding for whom to vote. Some of the issues on here that are considered earth shaking (e.g. Christy Clark stopping at a red light in the early morning hours and then proceeding through) don't resonate with voters. Most voters make up their mind after considering pocketbook issues that affect them directly.

We should all be against corruption but it's up to the parties to come up with policies that voters support. The NDP, and their surrogates on here, know that they don't have policies that win them elections so they play the "corruption" card. Some real corruption, some faux corruption, but again, voters know that both parties are guilty of wrongdoing from time to time. So if I were the NDP I'd be working to come up with policies that would actually win them an election.

^^ Good luck with that expectation. In 16 years the NDP couldn't come up with a platform, let alone a costed one, and resorted to the Liberals bad, we good strategy, and yet still couldn't win the election.

BC government is still corrupt, just with a different face at the helm is all.

I'm with you there, but I do have to wonder out loud how things got to where they are today. Peter German's report appears to have captured 10% of what we now know was laundered through the casinos. Frankly, I don't believe the politicians can be 100% responsible for everything we're looking at today. It's larger, systemic and perhaps even culturally driven in some aspects. We can argue ad nauseam about how we got here, but I think it’s far more important to discuss how we move forward from here.

You do touch on a point that I'm inclined to agree with.

I'm too lazy to give a direct citation tonight, but the longest running and most expensive royal commission report in Canadian history, that looked at the most horrendous act of terrorism ever perpetrated from Canadian soil, did conclude the RCMP may need to give up some of its contract obligations to become a more nationally focused police force.

I know we all love our musical ride and the traditions upheld by the Gravel Road Cops, (I've always assumed that's what the GRC stands for?) but I'm watching with interest Surrey's transition to a municipal police force. At the end of the day I do wonder how billions of dollars were being laundered, at a time when the RCMP was spending millions of dollars trying to bully two drug addicted *bleep* to place pressure cooker's at the Legislature?

I'm not convinced the priorities were tuned into the right channels there.

BC is Not the highest taxed province and state in NA get your facts right for example Property taxes in BC are very low compared to lots of states and lots of province for example homeowners in Quebec, Manitoba and Saskatchewan were the most heavily taxed in 1998—1.8% to 1.9%
Sales tax in wash and california (examples)is way over 7% (bc tax rate) PEI is 10% sales tax
Quebec is by far has the highest provincial income tax rate @25.75 % max BC is 16.8% MAX

SO NO BC is NOT the highest taxed province not even close to it !!!!!!!

Corruption is a byproduct of the system and doesn't apply to any one specific party, sheesh :135:
