Please post a link to a windy-solar non synchronous grid jurisdiction that has abundant, reliable, renewable and affordable electricity without subsidies.
Youtube is not the real world. ETA, the guy speaking in the video is a science fiction writer
How about you posting a link that doesn't come from the BC Hydro website?

Interesting that we keep hearing from the dam lunatics that solar wont work but each day we see more companies in canada switching to just that . The problem for the dam heads is without the dam theres zero reason for bchydro to exist . Utilities know their little empire is coming to a end

Perhaps because on a small scale solar makes sense, kinda?
But on a large scale... do you want to move all ALR land into Solar grids? Would that be better?

Yep like garden lights.
Why use a big word when a diminutive one will suffice.

And personal roof top panels for specialized purposes. But for an entire province? No.
As WW3 develops, no one is going to be dissing the "preppers." What have you done?

^^^ Exactly.
If you personally want to do your part to help, solarize your house.
As far as general electric generation, not much beats hydroelectric.

So how about you open your minds a bit and watch the presentation. When I see all your childish jokes it is obvious you would not understand what he is talking about.
3 years ago solar cost half what it did 4 years ago. 2 years ago solar cost half what it did 3 years ago. this year it was cut in half again. It is a logarithmic scale. Certainly it can not continue for ever but as technology takes over and more and more solar and wind is constructed technology will improve and prices will continue to drop. That is why Dubai is starting to go solar. That is why China stopped construction of over 100 new coal fired plants. That is why shanghai is going total electric taxis. That is why India is stopping construction of coal plants and going solar.
It is called economy of scale. As more and more solar is built the price drops. Simple economics.
You can make up all the childish jokes you like;. Just like your grandpa did about automobiles taking over from horses. Never happen. Who is going to buy gas for a car when you can just turn the horse out in the field.
Watch the presentation. Then come back and make your childish jokes.

As long as you talk OLD generators. For new power generation both wind and solar are now cheaper. And they are getting even cheaper every day. Site C? 4.5 billion. Then 7 billion. Then 8.5 billion. Then 10 billion. Whats next? 12 billion then 15? When was the last time a mega project like site C came in on time and on budget.
At 4.5 billion site C made sense. The power produced could be sold in a range to break even. With Site C now at almost 3 times the original cost and rising there is no way it can be financially sustainable.

In the US a small company off shoot from another company went into business installing solar panels for free on roof tops. they lease the panels to the home owner. They get their return on investment by getting a portion of the profit back from the owner of the house on which they install the panels. They were just folded into the Tesla company for $4, billion dollars.
As I pointed out Tuscon just signed a contract for 30 years for solar power much cheaper than site C will be. Not even in the ball park. WITH no subsidies factored in.
Your arguments for site C look flimsier and flimsier every day that passes as wind and solar continue to fall in price. While site C? At best it remains in the $100. mwh range.

Tuscon Arizona.
We live in Canada.
If you like buying all your power from the states, then by all means.
If you want to produce your own power, well then have fun with your pipe dream of solar and wind
