"The union executive threw the Ironworkers’ support behind Clark’s Liberals on March 1, saying the governing party provided the best chance for union members to get jobs.
Doug Parton, the union’s business manager, said the executive made the decision in the best interest of its members...Parton said the union executive had the legal right to endorse the Liberals because it was a “non-monetary” decision that did not require a vote by the membership under the union’s bylaws."

This has nothing to do with "knuckle draggers," it has to do with the overall corruption of the BC democratic system. Current laws that allow pay for play influence peddling make our system unbalanced. Whether it is a union or a corporation or a lobbyist that donated large sums of money to political parties and/or candidates they expect something for their largesse.
It is time to change the laws. Strict limits must be put on campaign donations. This is the only way that BC citizens can be assured that their government actually represent them and not the views of a corporation or a union.

We won’t fight homelessness, hunger, or poverty, but we can fight climate change. The juxtaposition of the now and the future, food for thought.

"Some" ironworks do not want to back bclibs. This would be a more accurate title for your thread MJ.

What lie? The Ironworkers executive, elected to speak for the membership, has in fact come out in support of the Liberals. The fact that there is some disagreement within the ranks of the Ironworkers does not change that. If there is any mistake here it is with the Ironworkers' executive for assuming to speak for the entire membership. It would be interesting to see if a vote by the entire membership would in fact support the feelings of the so-called "rebel group".
