Is this Venezuela
So we now have the BC communists wanting to make rental only ghettos with artifical prices. Lovely. Whats next after the wealth redistribution. Maybe we could see the government force grocery stores to give away good food. That way all the grocery stores will leave. These communists in Victoria have stolen the throne.
This illegitimate government of crooks is gutting the economy on every level. Affordable for Bro

An excellent read for anyone interested in the left/right political dichotomy is "Atlas Shrugged" by Ayn Rand, a riveting story of government regulation of the private business sector gone off the deep end.
I'm of the mind that the "perfect" system would have elements of both capitalist and socialist philosophy, to subscribe to either extreme just doesn't work. A purely socialist system draws the "average" so low as to discourage individual accomplishment, while a purely capitalist system puts all the wealth and control in the hands of a very few.
What we have in BC right now is government operating without a clear mandate from the electorate, and attempting to force the values of a few on the many. This is a recipe for revolt in my opinion, even it that revolt takes the form of people packing their bags and heading for greener pastures.

There is indeed a balance. The "rental only zoning" thing is just a cover up for past BC NDP junior varsity stupidity and malfeasance.
80-90% of Vancouver has been zoned against higher density housing, which is quite obviously the only option they have had for a long time. Goofy Gregor and noVision Vancouver even have older apartment buildings in many areas as "non conforming" - which means that if someone wanted to tear down an older 2-3 story building and replace it with a 10-20 story building - they can't.
The result has been that the only place to go for developers has been to buy existing downtown core and area apartment buildings, evict the tenants, tear them down and build for sale condos (rentals are not very profitable given rent controls and over reaching "tenants rights").
"Rental only" zoning sounds like a solution - but in practice it is just nonsense. Typical of the garbage coming out of Victoria these days.
Can you imagine the scrap at Vancouver City hall when they pick a neighborhood of single family homes and designate it "rental only zoning"?? Bicycle Gregor and crew would be on their bikes so fast and peddling away in the opposite direction...

"Atlas Shrugged" comes to my mind daily as we lurch from one stupid, ill conceived decree to the next where NO forethought is given to possible outcomes.
We are living in this novel every day,
The Leftists foam at the mouth when this book is mentioned, even if they did take the time to read it. They have to lie so that they can keep pulling the wool over the eyes of their nitwit followers.

Sufficiently advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice. There’s a certain point at which ignorance becomes malice, at which there is simply no way to become THAT ignorant except deliberately and maliciously.

I don't think that's a problem, most of them seem to willingly pull the wool over their own eyes.
Consider how hard it is to change yourself and you'll understand what little chance you have of changing others.
The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything, they just make the most of everything that comes their way.

It's pretty clear that they do their own knitting as well.
