2019 Tax Assessments

2019 Tax Assessments

Postby Glacier » Jan 2nd, 2019, 11:31 am

Cool, mine is only up 1.9% over last year (that would be nine grand). That's smallest increase since I bought 5 years ago. A sign of a slowdown?

Mine went up 12%. Which is probably the largest I’ve had.

forgot to note that even though your assessment went up your taxes wont necessarily increase that much

its will depend on the 2018 mill rate the city comes up with and also how many new buildings were added to the tax base

Yup. My taxes were $3000 five years ago (after homeowner grant). They were $3000 last year, and I suspect they will be again this year.

thanks that was point for sure there mostly all based on mill rate and amount of property's in the tax pool ;;Iam going on the deferral program as mine are around 4K this year net and its only like 1.25% interest non compounding ;; I get 10% in a reit

Mine went up approx 16% but will affect my amount as the spec tax is paid on assessed value. :-X I plan to appeal the amount as I believe they are off on the amount.

So you don't occupy or rent the property for at least 6 months of the year?

That spec tax on non occupied houses in most cases is nothing but a utterly wicked socialist movement ; I despise the people that brought that law into being as its extremely unfair
case in point a fellow from the usa has a 4 million dollar house in the Victoria area and he lives there for 5 months
1) whos going to rent a 4 million dollar house for 7 months??
2) who wants to rent out there 4 million dollar house???

that's about $80,000 in non resident tax :swear: :swear: :swear: :swear: :swear: :swear: :swear:

What's worse is he can't even make his displeasure known, by voting against the usurper government, so they don't give a hoot. Same applies to all the Albertans Horgan is fleecing.
