I don't know how people think they get an extra hour of sleep.

I just got up an hour earlier today than yesterday but it was actually the same time.

Meh, I'm over it.

Used the extra hour to box up all the daylight saving time decorations and put them down in the crawl space. I could have used another hour to find the manual for the clock on the radio in the truck, but such is life.

See you all in March. That's a wrap on this thread.

I'm an early riser anyway and can only sleep so many hours, but it's really messed up my dog's internal clock.

No biggie for me either. My body clock was still set to Alberta camp time before the time change so it's just a little more off kilter now. I'm up early and go to bed early, it doesn't make much difference now that working for a living is out of the equation. Like they say, you can still do dumb *&%$ when you're retired, you just have to do it before nine o'clock.

Oh, the clock in my car. Completely forgot about it. I'll have to slip the CD into my PC first, then hope I can recall the steps to go through. :swear:

Possibly the best quote I read in an article about doing away with the time change was something along the lines of, "BC has an opportunity to lead other provinces and states in doing away with the time change, they just need to have the courage to do it."

Our dog doesn't care what time it is. She has a bladder of steel. We can't make her go out in the morning if it's raining.

Same here, but dinner time is an hour out. Food is the driver. Oh, and the morning cookie after she goes out, looks around and comes back in for the treat. Then she goes back and gets on the bed where I was. The mutt has got me figured out.

For those of you wanting Daylight Savings to end, and Horgan to get American states bordering BC to go along with it, it just may happen.

Senate PASSES a bill to make daylight savings time permanent - meaning America will never have to change its clocks again if it passes the House

Why does Horgan think we care what the US does? Arizona doesn't care what other US states do so why should we? Such a stupid idjit unfit for office.

WHY are the Americans waiting until 2023 though? Since it has now passed in Congress, surely 8 months to adjust (the time from now til the next usual time change) should be adequate. If not, why can't B.C. just "set the example"; especially since we know that the States will follow in the following Spring? Have some B@lls, Horgan!

Senate passed it but I haven’t read Congress did and it has to get to Biden’s desk I think for the law to be passed.

Yup saw that on the news too, thanks.

Why are the Americans waiting until 2023? The answer is obvious. There is a mid-term election coming in November.

No matter which way we go on this issue, there will be a segment of society who really wants to stay on Daylight Saving time and another who wants to stay on Standard time.

Daylight Saving time will allow a lot of summer daylight in the evening. Golf courses love this. So do all kinds of sports. But Daylight Saving time in the winter will force little kids to walk to school in the dark. With the reductions in busing, there are some kids walking 2 or 3 kilometres along winter roads with no sidewalks. Deaths of some kids are inevitable.

Some guy suggested starting school an hour later, like 9:00. Really? Mom and dad might have to be at work at what time?

Set an example? With airline traffic flowing up and down the coast, can you imagine the confusion with people missing their planes? Or showing up an hour early. And we'll be holding a zoom meeting with our offices in Canada and the US. At what time? Your 9:00 am or ours?

Yeah, but the Yukon showed some b***s. And they have how many corporate offices just across the border?

I love the idea of longer light in the evenings. Now as for doing business....we have all adjusted to other Provinces being later than us...we adjust. How many of us do business with places in Toronto, or have family in Alberta which is an hour ahead. You figure it out. An hour isn't going to make a big difference in business. Call when the other place is open, set up a meeting like you do now and do it for Pacific, Mountain and Central, Eastern time zones.

As for school, I went to school when it started at 9 and ended at 3, and my parents did just fine working. I went to a friends house before school and waited to walk with them, or came home after school to an empty house ( I did have backup to go to in case of emergency) Now these days, kids have to be driven to school and can't spend an hour or two alone. Daycares adjust there times or the older ones do what they do now just an hour later. I don't see the big deal being made out of it. Kids walk in the dark in the morning or they do in the evening.
