I am so against this !
There was a thing we had instilled in us growing up;
"Pull your own weight."
Pretty simple concept, you do, you have.
You don't do, you don't have.
Lazy is all I see.

impo there is only 1 group of people that should be granted a guarantee income (liveable amount). Those are either by birth or by accident, that have a physical or mental disability.
If any want or are able to work all the power to them.
Added: society has far to many lazy people already on welfare, go get a job.
I don't give a damn whether people/posters like me or dislike me, I'm not on earth to win any popularity contests.

Re: Guaranteed basic income?
I love this kind of stuff being floated by the NDP and Fed Libs. It just really turns off the middle class that made an effort to get skills and employment cuz they are also smart enough to understand they will be paying for it.
If the NDP thought 20 yrs in the hinterland was a long time.......bring in a social experiment like this in BC and there will not even be enough votes for official party status.

Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

Only people to get guaranteed income should be disabled vets....

I say bring it on I will turn everything I have into cash quit working and collect my livable wage like the lazy bums pushing for it, im getting tired of supporting those who are to lazy to support themselves I agree with those with a legit disability (being a lazy junkie bum is not a disability) or those who have served this country being able to collect.

Me. And all the others that work their butts off.
The more I make the more they take.
I sooo hate the NDP.
Why use a big word when a diminutive one will suffice.

Re: Guaranteed basic income?
Not to interrupt the bootstraps brigade, but the rationale behind a guaranteed basic income/universal basic income is providing everything the same stable base. Replacing welfare, EI, GIS, and other overlapping government income subsidies would remove a ton of inefficiencies in the system.

Re: Guaranteed basic income?
There is a chance I'm off the mark.
Inefficiencies in the system that require something for nothing
stems from those that follow an ideological path in the stead
of that of a realist.
Achieve success in the realist market, then if one wishes, pursue
their idealistic dreams.
Studies aimed at what is required in the Region one wishes to reside
would be a strong start.

I was more referring to overlapping administrative departments, organizations, and personal, not “dreamers vs realists”.

Rewrite the whole system is basically impossible. Ridiculous to even think it could be possible.
The bureaucrats run the systems and those systems are so convoluted and messed up that changing them will never happen. In the mean time I, and all the others that work hard, will end up paying for those that don't.

With ideas like this floating around look out Canada. Every Third World Country would be EMPTY in 1 week.
A true Liberal dream.
