and as the NDP ALWAYS do, it's screw over the poor. Always.

Yes, and how did they do that? By reducing tolls to zero on the bridges and by over time reducing MSP payments to zero, lowering fares on the ferries and icreasing the number of sailings (while I might add not changing the bottom line and by raising income tax on the well to do.

Care to show how the NDP is screwing over the poor. You are great at making silly statements but you never attempt illuminate us on just where you get these silly statements from.

Just wait for the taxes to be added or increased to make up for the savings........

ok.. waiting. still waiting.
Lets see now. We are waiting for, the wheels to fall off, the economy to tank, business to leave, unemployment to skyrocket, the debt to skyrocket, the deficit to skyrocket and now we wait for more taxes.
Lets see now, the last provincial election was in 2017. All those things were to happen that year. You all said they would and none of them have. How long you want us to wait?

only two more years until we can finally kick out this unholy alliance. Please please Dr. Weaver. Do the right thing and end this now, instead of prolonging the agony.

a toll to cross a bridge is indeed a tax. and as i recall the liberals brought that into play. explain to me how you hate taxes if the ndp do it - and accept taxes if the liberals do it.

hey hey... enough with the tough questions. Ask them an easy one. If it was ok for tolls on bridges in the lower mainland where the liberals do not poll well why did they not put a toll on the Kelowna bridge where they do poll well. Could it be that they reward loyalty?

It's a toll, not a tax. Paid by people using the bridge.

The bridge tolls were just like the carbon tax, they are in place to discourage low occupancy vehicles, and push people towards transit. The change in commute times over the Port Mann increased after the toll removal, some people rerouted form Patullo, some stopped taking the bus.

cause and effect. It happens.

If tolls are to be put in place to pay for bridges and roads there should be no exceptions but that is a topic for another post I suppose.

I'm in favor of taxing new bridges/ roads, any of them. It helps collect money from the people who use the service. To remove the toll and require all to pay through some other tax is a form of socialism. Maybe internet fees should go away and lightening fast internet provided to alll for free? The end result is everyone paying more. Same for the msp, some employers chose to pay it and others did not. Now everyone has to pay more so everyone can supposedly get it for free. It's crap logic.

Many things I paid for 2 years ago (bridge tolls, medical coverage, ICBC management bonuses etc.) but no longer pay for are now being funded by taxes. Blood cannot be got from a stone. Many things I used to do (travel eg.) I no longer do because I can't afford it. I'm old eh? While I didn't mind the Port Mann bridge toll particularly (to see a Doctor at UBC) I don't particularly like paying the toll through taxes if I'm not using the bridge. And carbon taxes actually work! I drive less because I can't afford it! Just like magic. My ICBC rate went up on my 37 year old vehicle 2 days ago and I've been driving for 62 years, over 30 years without an ICBC claim and only one traffic ticket (seatbelt) in all those years.
Medicare now heavily socialized but I no longer have a family Doc and have been waiting over 2 years to see a specialist in Kelowna. The equation just breaks down bigly when you analyze it. Living the socialist dream? Gordon Campbell's pension!

B.C.'s new employer health tax leads to cuts at Victoria police

VICTORIA — Victoria’s police department has disbanded a unit that targets prolific criminals, curtailed its front counter hours and is warning of more cuts as it wrestles with how to pay the NDP government’s new employer health tax.

Chief Del Manak said he’s had to reallocate $690,000 out of his policing budget this year to cover the province’s new tax, which has contributed to an economic crisis that will lead to even more departmental cuts being announced next month.

“That $690,000 is a significant impact in our overall budget,” Manak said Thursday. “And it’s not going to be a one-year thing. … Now we’ve got to find those savings from within.”

The police force announced Wednesday it had reassigned nine members to routine patrol from a crime-reduction unit that was supposed to target online stolen property, street gangs, property crime, prolific offenders and the opioid overdose crisis.

“I have so many gaps I have to collapse police divisions just to keep officers on the front lines,” said Manak. “I’m trying to keep my head above water.”

The department has been in a protracted conflict with some City of Victoria councillors over its budget.
