You think those with a terrible driving history are going to fess up and make it public knowledge?

Actually not quite true as I have the same factor. A more accurate statement would be that we have become old farts without leaving a trail of wreckage along the way.
I'm sure there are some old farts who have a dismal record as well.

An even more accurate statement would be that you've all become old farts without receiving any damage from the trail of wreckage you've left behind

And just how old is Captain Kirk now?
My Wife asked me if I knew what her favorite flower was?
Apparently "Robin Hood All Purpose" was the wrong answer!

Sorry but I'm afraid I still have no clue as to what you are talking about.
The only thing old farts driving 49kph leave behind them is a line of frustrated drivers, provided they are driving 49kph in a 90kph zone of course.
You'd also be mistaken if you figure that just because one is in their sixties, they drive twenty kph below the speed limit.
That would be the blue hairs who are in the octogenarian demographic.

Your comment just reminded me of an old commercial. Elderly couple driving down the highway driving slow but breaking every other law patting themselves on the back how safe of a driver they are while leaving a bunch of smashed up cars behind them that they cut off, etc.
Tried to find it on YouTube but couldn't.
Wasn't directed at anyone, just brought out a chuckle. Guess if you haven't seen it

Weird. Type of vehicle? Any tickets in last few years?

At present the maximum number of claims free years for maximum benefit starts at year 15. The present minimum number of liable claims free years to get the full 43% discount is 9. The difference between the two being if you have 15 or more years liable claims free and have a liable claim you only move up the Claims Rated Scale 3 steps, less than 15 and 9 or more you move up 4 steps.
For example if you were at 9 years and had a liable claim, you'd move up 4 steps giving you only a 25% discount. If you had 13 liable claim free years and had a liable claim, you'd still have a 43% discount.
I believe ICBC is starting with basically the same type of scale as far a liable claims free years and intending on increasing the benefit as the liable claims free years accumulate along with experience.
You stated "no claims", perhaps you were meaning no claims for "a while" ???
I don't believe at this time ICBC is using violations to factor into the calculation of Driver Factor. Their other two programs, the Driver Penalty Point premium and the Driver Risk premium address violations (and of course the initial fine as well).
… and again "last year", I gather you mean you renewed your insurance a year ago ? So actually you've missed the 6.3% increase on April 1st that preceded the new format starting on Sept 1st.

FYI for those who want to compare numbers between experienced drivers and newer drivers.
1.173
0 claims - 1 month shy of 1 year of 'driving experience'
