So tragic. Fault has not been determined, but reports say the bus was travelling on Hwy 5, across Hwy 1 when hit by the semi. There are stops signs at this intersection for those travelling on Hwy 5.

This one is interesting, that bridge's clearance is a full half meter higher than the tunnel and by looking at lane of travel in the picture, it would suggest that the truck did indeed come through the tunnel. So something must have happened in the short distance between the tunnel and bridge. Air suspension on the trailer perhaps? Unless they picked something up at the service area just south of the tunnel but the distance between that area and the bridge is a good kilometre, so for a truck to get up to that speed in that distance in that traffic to cause that damage would be difficult.

That is certainly possible. Perhaps his intention was to go northbound, realized he was too tall and turned around instead of just using the 17A/99 SB exit.

Who else is left to do it other than a few worn out old guys like me? No normal person wants to do this job. Like seriously, I only have a few marbles left rolling around upstairs so I'm unfit for anything else so I have to do this.
Who wants to pay 15k for a license for this abuse?

There were plenty willing to do it. Till they got undercut by 3 drivers sharing a license in one truck. So they went elsewhere.

I see drivers being trained daily in Kelowna.

Wouldn't a full story include which country they returned to ? Great Britian, France, Sweden,,,,,, Just would provide the full information, is all.

The company needs to be fined as well, a hefty fine.

Unskilled, inadequately trained imported truck drivers are a dime a dozen, almost literally.
They are a replaceable commodity.
Fire one, send them home, thousands more wanting their job.

If the companies were heavily fined or sanctioned as well, training and driver accountability would improve dramatically.
