More quality training programs spitting out new talent on to the Nations roads.

Good luck out there, it plays as big a roll as skill I suppose.

From DB’s link: (which should make all road users quiver in fear…just how many of them are out there, loose, on the highways now?}
“The focus of this lengthy investigation has been public safety,” said Detective Inspector Daniel Nadeau of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch. “Tractor-trailers and other commercial vehicles can be deadly in the hands of those with little or unapproved training.”
I wonder what finally tipped them off that shady Schools of Driving a Big Truck was a bad idea, in need of investigation and shutdown?
Sufficiently advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice. There’s a certain point at which ignorance becomes malice, at which there is simply no way to become THAT ignorant except deliberately and maliciously.

You don’t have to go to Alberta or Ontario or Quebec to see the same thing here. Last year I was passing the northbound pull out on hwy 91 just south of the Alex Fraser bridge and seen two different driver trainer companies with 5-6 people around each truck trailer doing pretrips. First not enough seat belts to fit them unless they double stacked in the seat and bunk and second I can’t see them spending the time necessary there to make sure each and everyone got the info and do a correct check
You only get one chance to use TODAY wisely otherwise it becomes yesterday and it’s gone

What I laugh about is the two year investigation to what can be witnessed in two hours any day
of the week from Coast to Coast to Coast.

Like the picture a friend posted of one truck in the ditch during less than ideal conditions with
five guys standing around scratching their heads.
No other vehicles in sight. Hmmmm....rocket surgery to pin point some hard evidence right there.

The last paragraph in the article made me chuckle and shake my head. In what universe can a truck driver say its 'unsafe conditions' ? Every snowstorm on the Coq. brings unsafe conditions.

Add to that. Unsafe conditions can start before the engine is even running.

Do you really need that milk, or beer, or ....?
Think about the guy that has to go into this to go to the coast to get your milk and beer... I'll tell ya what it feels like...
It's the feeling you had when you were a kid ( say its 1975, no cell phones, no mommy picking you up ) when you knew you had to walk home from school and there are 3 older, bigger than you bullies that are going to catch up with you on your walk home. The dread increases with each tik tik closer to 330 when the bell rings... No one to call for help, you can't hide in the school, you have to go and get beat up.
That's what the feeling is sorta when you have to start work during weather like this...hiways already closed all over ,- you know it's a 1/500 ish chance this could 'the day' the Coq. kills you. https://www.castanet.net/news/Kamloops/ ... ope#402503

Just brutal.
To be fair, one needs to consider that not every truck was inspected.
Only targeted vehicles get checked.

How many got waved through ?

A total truck/trailer count would give more accurate numbers.
Not just the numbers from the selected targets.

eta; good to get the junk off the road. too bad it didn't get the people well known
for running the junk off the road. Just another day to them.
