School Zones

Post by GordonH »

Just a Friendly Reminder School Zones go into effect Tuesday morning throughout the Province.

So please drive according to posted speed limits during school hours. (parents this includes you)

btw usually I try recycle older threads because they appear to be decade old, I started a new one.

It would be nice to see some enforcement throughout the School year but the RCMP appear to be in hiding.

I walk my dog daily past a School and the number of speeders is disgusting.

The drivers don't stop for signs either.

I see numerous parents doing u-turns were there is signage No u-turns i.e on Richter outside Raymer Elementary.
Plus parents letting their child/children to jaywalk across a busy street like Richter at this same Elementary school.

Shame... shame on you very foolish parents.

btw has been happening for many years now.

This is why I believe school zones are an excellent place to have stationary photo radar. Only operating on school days & hours.
With signage giving every driver a warning.

We all have moments of stupidity but some of these speeders I see everyday speeding in the same school zone.
These :cuss: need a slap up the sides of their melons.

I see quite a few that are on their phones while speeding in the zone as well. Double dumb!

Does anyone know for sure?

Hmmm, I was under the impression they didn't apply during non-instructional days (Eg. Pro-D days). I agree, if limits do still apply during non instructional days then they'd apply for the Tuesday and Wednesday next week as well.

Edit: Found this article. https://bcdrivinglawyers.com/when-is-a- ... the%20time.

Appears that the limits indeed apply even when students aren't at the school. Will remove my earlier post. Thanks for questioning this!

Thanks for finding that - my search wasn't helpful.

I wouldn’t be stupid enough to let any young children to jaywalk across a busy street.

Bumped up

Definitely time to install stand alone photo-radar system in School zones around the province.

https://www.castanet.net/news/BC/426532 ... lam-school

btw it only takes 1 minute at 30 kph to go 1/2 Km, I doubt there are many School zones longer than 1/2 Km.

We walk our dog every morning and part of that is in a School Zone.

The speeding is absolutely mind boggling.

Cars that actually slow down are the exception. We have also noticed that other than truck drivers, the most common speeders are Women.

We have also not seen any speed control on this busy street all year!

I've been tailgated going through school zones. And I've been doing 35 or so and the idiots are still *bleep* off.

The vast majority of school zone speeders in our neighborhood are moms in SUV’s.

Oddly enough, thats the group that complains the most about school zone speeders.
