Cannabis thread, all things BC Cannabis

Post by Queen K »

Whatever you do, do not go against Big Pharma or Big Government coffers. I take it this club was not paying government business fees to operate. And because cancer patients were actually getting anything for nausea that wasn't made by Big Pharma, well we can't have that. I'll bet there's a lobby by Big Pharma pointing out these clubs.

So a guy can have meth, fentanyl or what have you for "personal use" hard drugs can now be carried, but a cannabis club aiding and assisting over 3,000 members is "bad."

Yeah it's a shame.

Having said that - many of these "clubs" that claim to serve people suffering from ailments actually sell the vast majority of their wares to recreational vs medicinal users.

I'm on the fence with this one. It's essentially bootleg cannabis... nobody complains when bootleg alcohol or tobacco operations are shut down. I guess for me what would sway my opinion is accurate data on how much of their sales "help people with medical problems" vs "help people get high".

All they need to do is move their facility to Native land and their problems with the government will be over immediately.
They would essentially become untouchable

Yep, just pay rent and probably cut of the action. All will be good

As someone who used to heavily work in the industry. This is true.

The headline should have read :

“White Cannabis club busted by Victoria police"

All dispensaries on native land are illegal. You can't sell crack or prohibited weapons on the reserves either. The only reason the native shops on West Side Road and various reserves have not been busted is because the government is afraid of the identity politics. It's a complete slap in the face to everyone in the industry following the rules paying taxes and going by the regulations.

The Victoria club was busted because they are white.

I always suspected cannabis was addictive as well as being a gateway drug.
But here it is, addictive.

When you think about it all kinds of things can be addictive to different people.

Some are addicted to burgers, wine, spirits, poutine, nachos, TV shows, pain killers, you see where I'm going here right?

If one can go on with their life, after running out of any of the above, and not go into withdrawl obsessively hunting for their next doobie, then it's probably not an addiction.

For far too many OxyContin was a gateway drug, and a lot more dangerous than a joint will ever be.

I know people who have taken cannabis for over four decades, and they aren't climbing the walls if they run out, and live productive lives, while others in a never ending quest for a better buzz graduated to hard stuff and ruined their lives.

But then again I know people who ruined their lives with booze, white collar professionals addicted to cocaine, and the list goes on.

There will always be people who lack self discipline, and can easily go overboard with one thing or another.

At the end of the day all I know for sure, having had to deal with both in my lifetime, is that I'll take a person addicted to cannabis any day, over one addicted to booze. Yet for some strange reason, alcohol doesn't seem to have the same stigma attached to it.

Go figure. :135:

Also did you note this snippet of the article........
Nearly five per cent of cannabis users are at risk of developing an addiction to the drug, a new study from Statistics Canada says.
5% at risk, according to the survey so the amount actually developing an addiction would be less.

I'm not going to conduct a survey, but I would be willing to bet that the number of people drinking alcohol, at risk of becoming alcoholics, is a fair bit higher than that figure, and most would happily tell you they have no problem at all, despite requiring alcohol every day.

It's a survey and as far as I'm concerned should be taken with a grain of salt.

Wasn't the reason for legalizing Cannabis done to stop organized crime from making money & the Government was going to collect taxes ? And how has that worked out ?
Now there's a Cannabis store every couple of blocks but the illegal back street sellers have a product that buyers want.
