BC Premier Announces Measures to Target Violent Offenders"The new Specialized Investigation and Targeted Enforcement program is a step in the right direction. SITE will enhance public safety by adding to the investigative options available to police in B.C. It will also strengthen co-ordination and information sharing between police agencies, similar to the successes achieved with BC's Provincial Tactical Enforcement Priority, which SITE is modelled after."

https://news.gov.bc.ca/releases/2023PSSG0019-000502British Columbia Premier David Eby announces new measures aimed at addressing the issue of violent repeat offenders throughout the province. He is joined at the news conference in Nanaimo by provincial Public Safety Minister Mike Farnworth. The announcement comes in the midst of increasing violent crime in the community, including a recent incident in which a local business owner was shot while retrieving stolen property from an encampment.
This is a welcome and needed announcement.“Crimes committed by repeat violent offenders continue to be a concern across the country,” said Niki Sharma, Attorney General. “These are tough challenges that require a co-ordinated approach. That’s why we’re investing in dedicated Crown counsel to provide criminal law advice, and independent prosecutorial support and services to support the hubs and help build safer, more just communities.”
The Repeat Violent Offending Intervention Initiative will be supported by the new Special Investigation and Targeted Enforcement (SITE) program. The Province is investing $16 million over three years so law enforcement can strengthen targeted investigations of repeat violent offending cases and improve information sharing between police agencies.
From the CPAC Vidoe of the Announcement: Eby also mentions that the Province havs hired and in the process of training new prosecutors.

I'm not holding my breath on this announcement. Window dressings maybe?
What's the plan for these perps when they are caught? Throw them in jail? Higher bail?
Unless there's some agreement with Ottawa, that's not happening.
Bill C-75 calls for judges to use a “principle of restraint” when it comes to setting bail condition and the Supreme Court of Canada has also ruled that people accused of crimes be released with the least onerous bail conditions.
Want to point fingers? OTTAWA.

Oh brother, as long as we have moron judges who refuse to hold people accountable for their crimes this problem will never go away. As long as we have an Immigration system that doesn't vette people properly we will continue to have this problem. Some loser with ties to ISIS slashed the neck of someone on a bus. *bleep* is he even doing in Canada? Oh wait, our government has no testicles and is afraid of looking bad. Maybe countries like Russia and China have it right - maybe Trump is right - totalitarianism is better because they can deal with stuff decisively without endless discussions and committees and inquiries.

Probably start with individual who stab and killed 17 year old on transit bus in Surrey. Probably not first time this person stab someone.

They know who they are and they like the job they do.Create chaos and mayhem as a diversion.Nothing says "help me Government " more than letting crime escalate to the point where people feel so unsafe they are afraid to leave their homes and when you try to defend your castle they throw YOU in jail.Nice work ,if you can get it.
