Whatever banner is used the key is a united right, division on the right will automatically give the win to the ndp.BC Landlord wrote: ↑May 7th, 2023, 6:16 pm BC needs a true, modern conservative party. They would win in spades, at least in most of the interior.

What I meant by "conservative" was not social conservatism, as known from centuries ago. That concept is pretty much dead nowadays. What I would like to see is a fiscally conservative party with common sense policies when it comes to social issues, and focused on merit, rather than ideology.
Posters who once get on my ignore list do not get off it easily. They would have to demonstrably improve their behavior.

LIke the actual conservative party of BC, the former Liberals, is not going to win the Interior in Spades.BC Landlord wrote: ↑May 7th, 2023, 6:16 pm BC needs a true, modern conservative party. I would hate to think of what would be left of BC if the NDPs had their way for a much longer.

Well, if an election were held today you would not have to think. But please, what has the NDP ruined in BC? The NDP must be doing something right. The population grew at a rate of 7.6% while the NDP has been in power. Only Manitoba had a lower unemployment rate than BC at the end of 2022. Only 3 provinces had a higher GDP growth than BC and one, Manitoba was only a couple decimal points higher. Alberta and Sask. of course lead the list.BC Landlord wrote: ↑May 7th, 2023, 8:09 pmI would hate to think of what would be left of BC if the NDPs had their way for a much longer.
The housing market is booming in BC while in most of the rest of the country prices are falling. Now it depends on which side of the ledger you stand whether that is good or not but construction workers sure like the increased building.
It is almost impossible to get tradesmen in to do a small job now. They are all way to busy to bother with your small flooring project.
BC is doing just fine under the NDP.

Totally false. The BCNDP is at 43%. If the Uniteds merged with the Conservatives, the super united party would have less than 40% because mergers always have some members leave.

That second group really didn't think their new name through did they?
Might be an accurate description though.

That worked so well in Alberta. The United Conservative Party (UCP) has been rife with controversy right from the beginning giving millions to the Oil conglomerates who turned around and gave themselves bonuses instead to the expected "trickle down" effect the UCP touted would happen.
What a World !

I may think about it but only if you pay me dump truck loads of money per year with zero responsability on my part surrounded by a few lackeys I can blame for screwups!! I have the the talent to mumble my way through an interview and not answering the question asked. Its called BS Baffles Brains. I am an expert. I will also need to grease palms of all my family and award them Millions of dollars in contracts to produce nothing. I also want to retire after a couple of years with a huge pension payable forever. Then I will support you. Only then.

Never really been a fan of politicians. If your local candidate comes across as best person for job of mla, then yes I would vote.

Classic avoidance of things the NDP "soup nazis" (Seinfeld reference) have fluffed right up.butcher99 wrote: ↑May 7th, 2023, 8:20 pmWell, if an election were held today you would not have to think. BC is doing just fine under the NDP.
Example: why is there a flourishing contraband tobacco market in BC? Gee, you don't suppose it is because the BC NDP "soup nazis" got on their high horse and jacked tobacco taxes right through the roof? Of course it is. Meanwhile goofy dippers want to give free heroin away....
Won't be long with the BC NDP goofs and bootlegging will be a big thing in BC as well.... seen the price of a bottle of plonk wine lately?
Lots of places where BCUP can pick up votes if they choose to.
Right now I am in the boat of "a pox on both their houses".
The middle path - everything in moderation, and everything in its time and order.

The cost of alcohol is just plain stupid. Prices have gone up far higher than inflation.hobbyguy wrote: ↑May 11th, 2023, 3:44 pm

Of course the manufacturers have increased prices, but then the province and feds have jacked up their take as well.
Oh well, I'm cutting back, trying to lose a little weight so less alcohol is being purchased.
