Are you prepared for the coming B.C. heatwave?
From Castanet:https://www.castanet.net/news/Poll/4265 ... -heatwave-
I guess this is a warning for Canadians not to travel south to places like Arizona where it is much hotter. Apparently from what we have read in the news, this kind of heat will kill us. So be forwarned and stay north or you will become deceased, at least according to the media . Also, I recall it being 41 degrees celsius here in Kelowna around 1991. I wonder how many people perished from that heat here in kelowna?

It’s not uncommon to see this valley reach into low 40s, personally I’d rather it didn’t since my melting point appears to be 25 as I get older.
Usually 40s come mid to late June into July.
Keep hydrated and seek shade often.
Oh yes, can’t forget the sun worshipers. Please use strong sun blocking, unless you are okay possible getting skin cancer.

Not at all. More and more people are moving to places like Texas, Arizona, Florida. All in order to get away from the climate tax monsters and get to warmer weather.

Fear mongering from the media. Just like the thunder showers we were supposed to get last weeks

- Desperately wanting warmth and sunshine? Check
- Air conditioning ready? Check
- Worried about climate change? UnCheck
- General attitude toward heatwave? ...Wunderbar!
Remember this silly old old TV commercial? (Wunderbar is German for Wonderful)
I hate winter.

^^^ Wunderbar!!
I remember that commercial. Heck I moved here because decades ago climate scientists promised an end to snow. I am still waiting, but instead we are getting more snow. Some glacier melt has uncovered viking remains and tools, etc. They were lucky to have such a warm climate.

Very true, here is a helpful thought. Neighbourly thing to do, if your neighbour happens to be elderly or disabled maybe check in every once and while.

Well that excludes a lot of posters on Castanet...

Re: Are you prepared for the coming B.C. heatwave?
Yes they do need a warning.
Not everyone has the luxury of air conditioning. Until 3 years ago I didn't and it was bloody uncomfortable and miserable and I was sick a few times from overheating. Elderly and disabled are most at risk. They should be prepared or someone should help them prepare if they are not able to do it themselves. And check on them often.
Every year we get at least one power outage from everyone cranking up the a/c. A few bottles of water for me and cooling mats for the pets are in the freezer ready to go.
Keep an eye on pets if they're outside. If it's too hot for you outside it's too hot for them. Leave them at home in this heat. They don't need the car ride. Buckets of water are always freshly filled for any strays or wildlife that pass through the yard.
Fans are in the garage in case of an a/c failure... good luck getting it fixed right away during a heatwave.
It's the small things that even people with a fully functioning brain sometimes don't think about. Always have a plan B.

Ahhh ! A good , ole fashioned heatwave !!!
Just like last summer..
Let's hope it take the "heat" off some of the other non issues MSM would rather we focus on , like the alphabet gang , who was on Epstiens flight lists etc.
