No changes to national anthem: PMO
The federal government says it has heard the public outcry and will
not make changes to the lyrics of the national anthem. The move comes
after Wednesday's throne speech promised to review the "original
gender-neutral wording" of the lyrics.

This was an absolute government "troll" job to distract people from the budget.......there was never any intention to change it.

At least the government has now kiboshed this idea after Canadians have overwhelming opposed the changing of the anthem.
This what the anthem sounds like after everything has been removed that isn't politically correct. ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zgs7WVpr4o
ETA: Good observation Animal Lover. Can't really argue against that one.

I am not in favour of changing the words for the reasons they suggested ... just the whole thing.
It is a terrible anthem.
Nobody really wants to join in until the last few lines and it starts off so low and drawn out it sounds like a funeral.

"We are the Champions" by Queen ?
And then there is our resident right-wing troll who tells us name calling is childish.
The hypocrisy is just pitiful and way off the charts and so very strong in this one.

It's not changing apparently, not right now anyway. The Conservatives just decided not to, because so many people were opposed to it.

Probably, the budget was pretty good. I mean, when the opposition's best counter-attack is: "We're going to vote against it, but not enough to let it fail" it can't be that bad. They don't even seem to be trying to compromise. It can't be that bad if they're not demanding something.

Seems, although not surprisingly so, that it was a woman who convinced Prime Minister Harper to put the anthem change as a proposal in the throne speech. It is rather surprising however that she is a Conservative Senator.

Now you're talking. Plus we tick the Gay East Indian (Freddie Mercury, in case you were wondering!) minority box into the bargain which should keep the politically correct crowd at bay for a least a day or two.
