Somebody has to pay for the aging populations health care, pensions, housing, etc it's ignorant and selfish to be anti immigration when the birth rate here can't keep up.
Makes you wonder what the "Me Me" generation really consist of?

Canadian society is going to go through even further social and cultural evolution. There will be no stopping it, and as you have correctly observed, it will be crucial to our socioeconomic system. There is no room for racism in a peaceful world.

Singh is not muslim (you know this right?), nor a terrorist.

Jag that was my point. Japan has no immigration because they are xenophobic. They are in big trouble. There will be no younger generation to support pensions etc. Housing will crash, health care will be unaffordable. Canada would be in the same position without immigration. Muslim attacks? Give me a break. We will see if this Edmonton thing is a crazy or lone wolf.

I don't think it is appropriate to talk about so-called 'Muslim/terrorist attacks' when the topic is about Jagmeet Singh, the new leader of the Federal NDP.
I have watched/listened to several of his interviews and I get the impression that he is a very intelligent, well-spoken and well-presented individual who will have much to offer not only the NDP but all of Canada - his home and native land.
His religious affiliation is immaterial.

An interesting fact indeed, and one that I cannot find the relevance to in a thread about a born Canadian.
I actually like his policies. He also practices Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, which is obviously another plus.

Re: Singh takes NDP leadership
When "East Indians" are born, raised and live and work in Canada they cease to be 'East Indians' - they are in fact of law and heritage CANADIANS!!
They can be classified as 'Canadians of Asian extraction' for medical purposes - same as FN can be classified as 'Canadians of First Nation extraction' or white skinned people as "Canadians of East/West/North Caucasian extraction' - but this is where the definition ends. They are all CANADIANS.
My grandkids are beige. Yours will be too. You will love them all the same. Get used to the idea.
