GB, you may be right as well... ya never know how data and proxies will be used, manipulated to pre-ordain an outcome. I think I'll take this shot though. Cross your fingers ;-)

So come 2019, when-ever the outcome is known, we shall reconvene :-)

Good luck Jlabute. You are up against some of the biggest crooks in the world right now. They even have the Pope buying into this nonsense. It's a rigged game. You are betting against people who are using loaded dice, and millions of brain-washed trained seals ready to clap and defend the most heinous lies they cook up.

Extremes are increasing over time thanks to climate change. Here's proof. Here you can see that the extremes increased from the 1940s through the 1990s. Scary stuff. We are all going to die.

Arctic could see 5 c warming by 2040

An international summary of five year's worth of research on Arctic climate change concludes the top of the world is getting warmer faster than anyone thought. http://www.cbc.ca/news/technology/clima ... -1.4410138

This is due to the Albedo Effect. White ice has a higher albedo and thus reflects more sunlight. Darker areas have a lower albedo and absorb sunlight and heat up.

As more ice melts, the overal albedo decreases, causing even more heat to be retained, and thus continue to melt the ice. It’s kind of a vicious cycle, and why a lot of scientists years ago believed we crossed a tipping point. Indeed year over year the total arctic ice, and total global ice levels have continued to decrease.

Faster than anyone thought? That's not possible! Head alarmist and chief AGW dumb-dumb James Hansen said that the Arctic would be experiencing ice-free summers by now. So no, it's not faster than "anyone thought", this is just alarmist bunk. But what else is new.

Omnitheo wrote:Reminder, as with the last few years also reported to be the hottest, these are global averages.

Climate does not equal weather. So just before there are any “smart” comments about the current temperature in some parts of BC (caused by a well understood meteorological phenomenon).

I will make a prediction that 2018 will beat out 2017 too, as the trend continues

Okie dokie so we have a bet going that 2018 will be hotter than 2017? Not necessarily the hottest year, but hotter than 2017? Ok, I'll take on that bet and say that with La Nina coming, and, we are heading towards a solar minimum, 2018 will be slightly cooler than 2017.

The loser of the bet gets a virtual spanking in this forum. Sound good? lol

La Niña was 2016-2017...
You’re on.

Hear he, hear ye.
It is time for the public spanking of “Omnitheo” who lost the bet that 2018 would be HOTTER than 2017. As things have turned out, 2017 was cooler than 2016. 2018 was significantly cooler than 2017.

Come here and acknowledge your spanking (say owww or something) :130:

Public spankings are considered sexual assault these days, so maybe just go for the good old fashioned dutch rub.

your data doesn't correlate with the apocalyptic "WE ARE ALL DOOMED!! mantra of the alarmists and so there will be no acknowledgment. Instead some biased "study" that was "peer-reviewed" will be quoted instead, coming from deep within the bowels of the Tides Foundation. The only mantra allowed is the panicked apocalypse, all others not acknowledged. *removed*

There are four main world thermometers: UAH and RSS (satellites) and GISS and HADCRUT4 (land based). I suspect that Omnitheo will want to wait until all four release their figures, and then pick the one that benefits him the most. Generally, that would be GISS, but not always.

he won't be the only one that will pick it, also will be all of the other parasites out there that depend on the rivers of government cash that are the result of an unnecessarily panicked populace.

Even according to GISS, 2017 was cooler than 2016, and the 2018 individual months were mostly lower than 2017. Still they are 6 months behind. Perhaps they need time to tamper with it ;-)

I don't think it would look good for GISS either.

It's actually updated through November. Here's the graph for you zoomed in to show the past 4 years...
