Yet, nobody knew Canada was in a recession in 2015 caused by the dismal economic policies of the Conservatives, and that the results weren't clear until after the election ( a recession is 2 continuous quarters of negative growth).
Right now, Canada has the best balance sheet in the G7, and that advantage is getting better all the time!
Compared to the size and strength of the overall economy, our debt is shrinking, and on track to be in the best position we've seen in almost 40 years.
This means we can both absorb shocks and uncertainty, and continue to invest in the things that matter to Canadians, like affordable housing, the Canada Child Benefit, and retirement security.

You buy a new car every time you get a 50cent and hour raise and yell your debt load is shrinking don't you? Yet you'll be the first to yell "where's my bailout" when times get tough.

That's fine, and no you won't get a bailout, but I'll just keep on with practical financial choices not celebrating trust fund negligence and the rest be damned thinking. Heck you can go back to the pre election debates we had here, I argued that the deficit honesty was the right political move. But then massively breaking that promise by a factor of three was not supportable and it's been downhill from there.
