The obvious choice as leader, but the western Cons just couldn't stomach voting for Maxime. Dat francophone haccent was just too much. How many ballots was he in first with the rest of the field in disarray and English cons turned their back on him. By the way, has anybody seen Andrew Scheer lately?

I almost bet money he'd be leader.
He is a conservative and not afraid to flaunt it, and the honesty is refreshing though i don't agree with most of it.

I think Scheer was chosen because he is a lap dog. He will lose to Trudeau and sink Canada . Bernier would have crushed Trudeau. Possibly already. Quebec would have had a hard choice to make.

It is nice to see Quebec suffer for Trudeau policies. Maybe they will vote for someone else

What a skilled politician. He was just able to express his racism without drawing a lot of leftist and media outrage. Really smooth. Harper played the race card with the birqa thing in the last election and then the Conservatives had several candidates who wanted a Muslim snitch line and those were clumsy moves. Bernier has done this today and positioned himself as a racist without committing political suicide. In fact a lot of closet racists are preparing to come out also. Slick. Where's his leader in all this?

I have to agree with at least some of what he's saying (and he's the only person who has the guts to say it. I bet a huge number of Canadian politicians feel the same way but they're keeping their mouths shut). I despise Donald Trump, but one thing I do respect is his honesty. He's not afraid to tell people what he's really thinking.

Immigration has created a terrible situation in some European countries like France and Germany and if we don't learn from what's happened there, we'll go right down the same path. It's nice to extol the virtues of diversity in colourful PR campaigns that make it sound like we're the best people on Earth. However, until you've walked into some of those ethnic "no go zones" in places like Toronto, you have no idea what's really going on here.

I think unregulated immigration is going to blow up in our faces big time and we're all going to be paying for it forever (by then, Trudeau will have added to his considerable personal wealth buy sitting on the Boards of multiple cannabis companies and won't care). Resentment will fester but before too long Canadians of European ancestry will be in the minority and then it won't matter anymore because Canadian culture as we know it now will no longer exist.

I have to respect Quebec for giving everyone else the finger and saying "we're going to do whatever we want to do and if you don't like it, shove it." They are very good at protecting their culture.

You do realize at that point they are detained and go through the whole process... We don't just say... Well you made it across! Here is your passport. Educate yourself on the actual process please.
