I guess the Trudeau supporters will be able to gloat and gloat and gloat. A gloat fest. Andy doesn't stand a chance, he just hasn't the spark to inspire the masses.
Besides if Trudeau doesn't get in what will poor Rex Murphy write /rant about?

Trudeau has given Rex years worth of material.

When Trudeau ends up serving his 10 year jail sentence for corruption in the S.N.C. scandal, Rex will have a lifetime of feature articles on pretty, rich boys adjusting to sharing a cell with Bubba.

And ya gotta think, going to jail with a name like "Butts" isn't going to be very comfortable for Gerry, either. :200:

It's going to be interesting to see how the current scandal involving SNC Lavelin is going to affect peoples' perception of the Trudeau Liberals. After all, it was similar scandals that cast the Libs into the political wilderness in the past, so it's not a stretch to think the same thing might happen to them again.

If political considerations are allowed to overide the rule of law, what makes us any different to all the countries that we criticize when they do that (such as China, Russia, Venezuela, Iran, and the list goes on)?

Here are the facts so far:

SNC is a company that makes regular sizeable donations to the Libs, and was recently found guilty of funneling illegal donations to them as well.

SNC is based in Quebec and, if criminal proceedings are allowed and subsequently hurt their bottom line resulting in layoffs, it could hurt the LIbs chances of re-election (because they need the Quebec vote in order to win).

After intense lobbying by SNC, the Libs quietly changed the Law to allow SNC to be dealt with using an alternate (non criminal) process. By avoiding criminal prosecution, SNC would not be prevented from bidding on Government Contracts for 10 years, the way they would if found guilty of a criminal offense.

When the Prosecutions Office determined that this particular case didn't warrant being offered the opportunity to utilize the alternate process, the PMO's office tried to persuade the Attorney General to intervene and require the alternate process be used. And when the Attorney General refused, saying it would be inappropriate to do that in this particular case, she was subsequently demoted.

What I want to know is, since when is it OK for Government to interfere in the Judicial Process in this country?

I seem to remember both Trudeau and Freeland telling China we don't do things like that here. Were they lying?

Governments who change the Law of the Land to benefit companies who make political donations to their Party, are the kind of Government we can do without.

Were they talking? If so, then the answer is "YES."

I will be looking forward to it. There should be some substantive stuff by then (although this SNC Lavalin thing could be pretty damning if it turns out there's anything to it). Maybe by then dimples will have come up with some sort of platform we can critique as well. God, he's got to have something more to say other than "I'm not Trudeau". That might be good enough for the partisans, for sure, but a good number of us will want to know what his actual plan is, or if he even has one yet.

Well, it was just a few years ago that a complete imbecile suckered you and enough others with "I'm not Harper."

An intelligent man like Andrew Scheer should pull off a landslide victory compared to that sack of horse turds.

The bigger picture.
Looking through the 120 pages of "all things" it looks as though the jury is split as to the renew ability of Justin Trudeau for our PM. Has he made mistakes? Haven't we all. Has he spent money unwisely, has he made unpopular decisions, has he *bleep* people off, has he reneged on promises? Is he different than any other leader past and present in any other country of the world. No, he's a politician and like him or not, he was voted in by majority. Every leader becomes unpopular over time, it's inevitable.

Who's our alternative? Some rehash of Stephan Harper? I had this discussion with my mom who is a sharp 87 y/o and she despises JT. She really couldn't say why other than he's too smug. Then she shows me the middle finger (not at me but as a reflection of the elder Trudeau I assume). It would have been out of character for her to do otherwise. At 87 she remembers our history all too well, but she can't quite remember the name of the opposition leader.

Lets say JT is liked by 50% of Canada. Our neighbor to the south of us got voted in by 50% of his country. I travel a lot, mostly to Europe, and politics invariably comes up.
Do you like Donald J.Trump? Does he represent the qualities you admire in the leader of a country? Do you feel he represents the opinions, aspirations, moral standards of the people of the US? Do you think Justin Trudeau reflects that for Canada?

Ninety nine percent of the world feels that JT is a good leader and has the respect of the rest of the world. We are first to condemn world atrocities, government hit squads, dictatorships. We welcome refugees and send aid to disasters around the world. He stands his ground against the American regime, and many Americans consider us lucky to have JT as our PM. Is he perfect? Who is? Conversely 99% of the rest of the world feels the opposite about the US leader.

So the devil you know vs the devil you don't (or have seen in a previous incarnation). The Bigger Picture is how we are perceived by the rest of the world.

Yes, I thought it might be 100% but I wasn't sure. Thanks for the correction.

Once again Rex Murphy sizes up JT as a mongoose does on a snake.

Enjoy his dry humor as he describes JTs witless script replies. He simply cannot speak truthfully and with conviction in his denial of justice meddling, a definite no-no in Canada but ok in Russia and China

http://nationalpost.com/opinion/rex-mur ... -perplexed

Kodidad, JT is seen as a bungler, fool and idiot in most parts and a patsy in others.

Yes, well Harper had to go, and there may be enough reason to say Trudeau has to go by the fall as well. However, dimples wasn’t chosen for his intelligence (please don’t tell me he was the smartest to choose from out of that group). After the electorate turfed Harper to the curb it was more like the Cons were looking for someone as cute as Shiny Pony, and dimples is kinda cute in his own way. Like watching a child pretending to be grown-up. Just don’t let him drive the car.
