This is *bleep*, but what else is new from the left spin-machine. The Conservatives worked with the other parties and came up with recommendations to the "electoral reform" committee, and it was rejected outright by the PM , because the non-partisan committee recommended a system that he didn't want. The Conservatives even demanded a national referendum on the issue and the PM wouldn't go for it, because it would be too "divisive".

and from their website:

We will make every vote count.

We are committed to ensuring that 2015 will be the last federal election conducted under the first-past-the-post voting system.

We will convene an all-party Parliamentary committee to review a wide variety of reforms, such as ranked ballots, proportional representation, mandatory voting, and online voting.

This committee will deliver its recommendations to Parliament. Within 18 months of forming government, we will introduce legislation to enact electoral reform.

The Cons wanted a referendum specifically so they could delay the process and spread disinformation among Canadians to encourage them to vote against it. The election of a party which promised to introduce electoral reform should have been all the referendum that was needed on the matter. And the liberals should have stuck to the promise.

oh good grief. The left spin machine just never stops. Remember, it was the Liberals who killed electoral reform. Not the Conservatives. I realize that this doesn't fit the pro-Liberal narrative, but even the CBC (whose links I posted) said that JT had lied to Canadians about wanting to impose reform. What a joke that somehow the left wants to spin this as a Conservative issue. It's not. But the only real poll that counts is the ballot box, and I hope all of those easily fooled NDP'ers who voted for JT's lies go back to the NDP next election, and abandon the liar JT.

That's a total banana republic attitude. So if a party gets elected that is anti-abortion, would you quietly just accept that that party now has a mandate to get rid of abortion in Canada? No! You would be crying about how that party only received 39% of the popular vote! Of course you would! It's total crap.

The Liberals received 39% of the popular vote. They didn't have a mandate to change our entire system of voting. What they had a mandate to do was to explore electoral reform, and then present it to the public to vote on, as per a normal functioning constitution.

And the liberals should have stuck to the promise.

JT lied. He totally lied. This is apologist bunkum.

^^ although this is off topic, it actually shows that JT is mature enough to admit an error, and not stick doggedly to an ideological position.

Max has shown that flexibility as well. It is an admirable quality.

LOL - more spin. Just ridiculous. All this showed was that the Liberals will say anything, and do anything, to get elected, and their sheep will applaud and cheer, and apologize for their actions, no matter how much they lie. Truly sad.

Tell that to the young lady in Creston with his paw prints on her butt.

I believe Max's "biker chick" was a willing participant, so his indiscretion was limited to his associating with a woman of questionable character and of course leaving her place more worried about his pants around his ankles than a dossier of critical national security documents.

Thankfully, Canadians who care about judgment and morals and respect for women have Andrew Scheer as a choice on their ballots in October.

Too funny! The guy makes one mistake and all Conservative clan are using this as ammunition to discredit his platform!
Not very mature, Max is still the best man for the job, a true Conservative for sure, regardless is he left his paw prints on any woman.

The obvious low brow "Harper nasty" attacks on the PPC are an insult to Canadian's intellect. Meme's and nonsense will get the CONservative nowhere. Max and the PPC are putting forward a serious platform, which the CONservatives under Mr. useless Scheer are not prepared to do.

I may not agree with all that Max has to say or do, but he far more worth listening to than the grim and boring Dimples Scheer - who stands for nothing.

The "Harper nasty" nonsense has no place in serious political discussion, and it just annoys Canadians with an IQ above 3.

If all the CONservatives can do is attack genuinely passionate and committed people like Max, then they deserve to lose. The PPC will rightly push right through that nonsense and destroy the do nothing, stand for nothing CONservatives.

GB - have you actually listened to Max? He actually makes good sense on a lot of issues, and on others I disagree, but he puts forward consistent and coherent positions. Max gives voters something to vote FOR.

Max was absolutely correct to leave the CONservatives who have degenerated into a "no plan", "no platform" bunch of "points in the game" snollygosters.

One of Max's better suggestions has already been adopted by the current government and put into place. Now that is constructive criticism, and politics for the benefit of Canadians, not politics for the benefit of the career pols like Scheer and his sidekick Skippy.

Max's PPC is a rejuvenating and constructive breath of fresh air for the right in Canada. The vast majority of Canadians want policies and directions that are good for all, which means taking the best policies and ideas, putting them out there, and may the best policies and ideas win.

Max's PPC already has a significant win, and one that will benefit many, many Canadians, which is far more than the "Harper nasty" CONservative party can boast after most of a term of opposition. Max and the PPC did so by standing FOR things, and putting forward cohesive and well thought ideas, not by being OCD obsessed with "points in the game" as the CONservative party has degenerated into.
