If governments don't allow for easy access (ie. adequate stores open) or if price is greater than that on the black market, then yes, there will not be much impact on the black market selling of marijuana. They can't go half way if they want it to work.

How much will cannabis cost you? Here’s a breakdown by province

British Columbia

Grams of dried flower start at $6.99, with a huge variety — more than any other online store right now.
Half-gram pre-rolled joints start at $4.20. (Get it?)

Yep...$7 X 28 grams = $196 At that rate, why bother going to the legal stores? I wonder if the e-pens and refills will be a better deal?...prob not.

Compared to what? $160 an ounce on the street? Nope, that is not going to cut it. Perhaps the big draw might eventually be convenience (we know people will pay more for that) but without the stores open the government has failed there too.

I had a conversation with a well intended condo resident who is all in a tizzy about people being able to legally grow in their homes. He cited the same rhetoric about mortgages and grow ops etc.

I explained to him that 4 plants doesn't require tapping in to your neighbors power supply nor the sealing off of a dedicated, ventilated and filtered room and the installation of fertilizing and watering equipment. Lets not forget why it's called weed. It grows pretty naturally all on it's own with very little help required.

Hell, I may grow one in my own place. I don't partake nor does my wife but they are really hardy plants and I kinda like the way they look.

If you're paying 160 for an oz....you need to get a better grower. Typically 100/oz and as low as $70/oz is the price from a grower I know but I'm sure the street prices will vary. But if the government stores are asking 200/oz, the black market will flourish.

I'm actually not paying anything. If I ever did decide to partake I'd probably be good picking up a pre-rolled for $4.20.

What really? :200: How does the government not make money selling pot? Maybe the HA should run the operation for the government.

Legalizing marijuana has long been touted as a kind of magic bullet for government revenue. And yet, Canadian governments have nevertheless figured out a way to sell pot at a loss. Ontario will be Canada’s single-largest pot market, and the only province headed by someone with some experience in selling cannabis. Even then, Ontario’s government-run pot stores are expecting to rack up losses of $48 million over the first two years. Even by 2021, Ontario pot revenue will only be about $100 million per year; enough to cover only six hours’ worth of provincial spending. In cannabis-loving B.C., pot tax revenue is only expected to start at about $125 million; barely enough to cover one-twentieth of the province’s annual debt-servicing costs. Meanwhile in Colorado, four years after the state legalized tax revenue from pot is only about two per cent of the budget.

Cool sounds like there's finally gonna be some changes. How often through the years i've seen pot smoke billowing out vehicle windows.

Why are people complaining about the price? Grow it then.

You know why a lot won't? Because when was the last time you grew all your veggies?

People will buy it.

Some people just don't get it! Not sure why it is not raided on the Reserve as well. Maybe someone with stones will step up.

Blair said First Nations dispensaries operating now are illegal and any shops operating after the new law comes into force will have to abide by the "strict regulation for production and distribution that is being developed."

Question so what is Blair doing about the pot shops??

Clever Carl!

Pilots have been escorted away by police after flying inebriated. Not two-seaters either, but 300 plus passengers.
