Huawei Hullabalu

Postby Treblehook » Dec 10th, 2018, 7:59 pm

Canada has legally binding agreements with the USA for matters relating to extradition of persons wanted by either country. If someone such as this Huawei executive, is accused of an offence[s] included within that agreement, we are obligated to arrest and hold the suspect pending an extradition hearing before the courts. It would not be a good thing for Canada not to meet our obligations under the treaty. China is making lots of noise about it, but we can be sure that they clearly understand the situation and obligations.

Treble, there are really only two scenarios here:

Either A: We comply with our agreements, and thus Trudeau is weak/making a fool of us/angering China and souring international relations.

Or B: We reject our agreements, return her to China, and thus Trudeau is weak/making a fool of us/angering the US and souring international relations.

Can’t he just do anything right?

for the most part. NO

As for this situation, it's a damned if you do damned if you don't overall isn't it. There really isn't (at this point) enough known for him to make a decision that we know is right. Therefore the best option is to follow Canadian protocols until such a time we know enough to diverge from said protocols.

Canada has no business arresting her for the Gestapo force of Trump the Chump. Who gives a sh*t if she sells to IRAN. It's not Canada's law. The US seems to think any law they pass is a world law to be obeyed by everybody. He is almost as dumb as Tru*dope

It's sad that you believe child abusers, rapists, murderers and thieves should be able to escape justice by crossing a border. Sensible people believe that accused criminals should face a court.

She is accused of fraud, not selling things to Iran. Do you not believe fraud should be a crime? Should people who commit fraud not be sent to stand trial? Why are you in favor of criminals?

Only fraud in the eyes of the US for a law they put in place when Trump was in one of his rants. The US are accusing her of selling to Iran.
Charges will be completely dropped.

We, the USA and Canada have a reciprocal extradition agreement.

If one of our murderers escapes, crosses border into USA, they will send the sucker back to us upon request.

Reciprocal means we do the same for them.

BTW, on tonight's news it was said the charges against her could result in 25 years or more prisontime.

And now we look like idiots for pandering to the US laws while Trump plays the big man and marginalises our efforts. Reminds me of the Disney cartoon with the small dog trying to impress the big dog " Hey Spike want me to get you another bone huh do you want that huh can I get that for you huh huh????"

We look pathetic.
