My money says she will abscond. Forego her $10 million (peanuts) get the ankle bracelet cut off and disappear, using her 5 remaining passports, never to be heard from again. Best thing that could happen.

agree 100% her family is worth over 3 billion, 10 million is nothing to these people, no way in hell she goes to the usa and spend up to 25 years in jail, if she knows she is guilty of what she is being accused of.........

If I had to chose who to be a lapdog to, I will choose our biggest trading partner, the one that's culturally somewhat similar, that shares our border with a population of 275 million more than Canada.

Way to go Justin! Now what? How does a part time drama teacher fix this shyte-hurricane?

'We've never been this alone': Canada finds itself caught between two powers, without any ‘serious allies’

Canada is caught between two superpowers and taking the punishment — and its ally to the south has been conspicuously absent in coming to its aid.

“We’ve never been this alone,” historian Robert Bothwell said. “We don’t have any serious allies. And I think that’s another factor in what the Chinese are doing. … Our means of retaliation are very few. China is a hostile power.”

Interesting article in the Globe and Mail today, which points out that although the current situation is legal, and not political, there WAS an opportunity to deal with it BEFORE it became a legal issue. An opportunity that our naive and inexperienced Prime Minister missed.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has admitted knowing about the extradition request several days in advance – in other words, before Ms. Meng boarded her flight to Canada. There was ample time for a discrete conversation with someone at Huawei Canada.

A similar suggestion by former deputy prime minister John Manley – that the Trudeau government missed an opportunity for “creative incompetence” – has been decried as an attack on the rule of law. However, there is nothing in the U.S.-Canada Extradition Treaty that prohibits warning an individual to stay beyond the reach of Canadian law.

The Chinese government knows this. Its reaction has been excessive – including detaining two Canadian citizens – but the anger will have been stoked by the knowledge Ms. Meng could have been warned.

when the extradition request was received. Ms. Meng had not yet boarded her flight to Canada.

The U.S. judge seeking Ms. Meng’s extradition is enforcing U.S. sanctions against Iran, sanctions the United Nations has recommended be withdrawn.

The request for Ms. Meng’s extradition was never the issue over which the future of China-Canada relations should have been decided. Mr. Trudeau seeks to justify his inaction as respecting the rule of law, but he had an opening – and missed it.

Now that the courts are involved, the moment for political decision-making has past. Years of appeals and worsening China-Canada relations could lie ahead.

The issue is pretty simple... Canada has an extradition treaty with the US and many other countries. We either honor the treaty agreement or suffer the consequences. If we don't honor it, why should the US, or any other country honor these agreements. IMHO, China is fully aware of this fact, but has took a position they feel is to their advantage. Nothing but international political noise. China has been unhappy with Canada [on this topic] for years because we have allowed high profile, wealthy criminals from their country to come to and reside in Canada, with the illegally gained wealth.

When one is dealing with a country that offers NO rule of law ethics, this is what Trudeau is dealing with.

China: not af given. Not for their own people and not for international agreements. It is like Canada is dealing with a malignant toddler. Both South and overseas.

Yes, we are. Fortunately, we have a chance to punt him in 2019 and get someone in place that has the maturity to deal appropriately with international diplomacy. Someone with the foresight to tell Meng on the QT to stay the hell home when given a prime chance to do so.
