Canada Plans to Admit Over 1 Million New Immigrants

As President Donald Trump threatens to declare a national emergency over immigration in the U.S., the country's northern neighbor, Canada, is preparing to welcome more than one million new permanent residents over the next three years.

The Canadian Parliament detailed its plans to add hundreds of thousands of permanent residents each year from 2019 to 2021 in its 2018 Annual Report to Parliament on Immigration.

Canada: clearly the best country in the world. We are so lucky to live in such a diverse and accepting country, and it is good to know we are back on track to growing our economic base so we can continue to fund the social programs and benefits that help to make Canada such a great country. It is baffling how so many people on this board seem to be so unhappy living in this great multicultural country with our values of acceptance, tolerance and diversity, but as Abraham Lincoln once said, “most people are as about as happy as they choose to be”. Maybe one day they'll join the rest of us in celebrating this strength.

I pulled a couple of quick things to illustrate how comprehensive this report is. It’s amazingly frank and has a lot of great information. Probably pretty interesting to the newcomers.

Projected Admissions – Targets

2019 330,800
2020 341,000
2021 350,000

Caregivers

In 2017, IRCC admitted 22,253 caregivers as permanent residents. This was above the high end of the planned admissions and reflected measures to reduce the inventory of applicants that applied under the former Live-in Caregiver Program.

Employment earnings

Gender differences among economic immigrants are also evident in comparisons of gender-disaggregated employment earnings. Male principal applicants have much higher average entry employment earnings and higher average employment earnings than their female counterparts. In 2014, the average entry employment earnings of economic principal applicant tax filers in the first year since landing was $56,000 for men, compared to $32,000 for women. Earnings of male principal applicants have grown by $12,000 in the last three years, while earnings of female principal applicants saw comparatively lower growth of $3,000.

Keep them coming. WIthout immigration we would have a declining population because young couples can no longer afford to raise families.

Yep, our birth citizens who earn less than "$54,000 for men and $32,000 for women" just don't cut it here anymore.

Apparently our "Couples with children had a median after-tax income of $94,500 in 2016," ( https://www150.statcan.gc.ca/n1/daily-q ... 3a-eng.htm ).

My married kids under 30 make even more than that--I'm feeling left out, too, because my fixed retirement income doesn't even reach the line where I have to pay any income tax at all.

I agree with you 100%. With all our bountiful riches, there are those who want us here on Castanet who want us to embrace communist doctrines and submit a large part of our law-making and policy to unelected corrupt and morally bankrupt organizations like the UN. I share your hope that one day these people stop wanting us to be the next Venezuela, and instead want to work together for harmony and the complete abolishment of all poverty and homelessness, that comes from balanced policy. Acceptance, tolerance and diversity are great things, but it's almost impossible to embrace such things, if horrible and evil leftist policy is jammed down peoples' throats by people bent on achieving one thing - watching the world burn.
All evidence points to the snollygoster scown Justin Trudeau being unfit to run this country. The LIEberal platform is all foofrah. October 2019 can't come fast enough.
