Trudeau Liberals team up with unions to spread hate

Post by Gone_Fishin »

THE TRUTH ABOUT ENGAGE CANADA

Engage Canada calls itself “a non-partisan, independent project with a mandate to increase democracy and democratic participation in the electoral system in Canada.”

Nothing could be further from the truth.

Engage Canada is a cryptic, union-funded¹ third party political actor dedicated exclusively to bashing Conservative parties, candidates and staff.

Engage Canada engages Canada mostly through social media, where their laughably desperate partisanship is on full display.

Their social accounts were active with frantic anti-Conservative, Anti-Harper propaganda during the lead up to the 2015 election.

Image

Then, Engage Canada accounts went completely dark for four years as Justin Trudeau broke every major campaign promise he made; racked up billions in deficit spending; engaged in endless scandals and cover-ups; insulted our veterans; and lied to Canadians.

Engage Canada accounts were activated again in 2019 to embark on freshly funded attacks on—you guessed it—Conservative leader Andrew Scheer.

The tired, deceitful narratives are sloppily reused anti-Harper talking points, only this time with accompanying Andrew Scheer imagery.

Engage Canada operates in the shadows. They’d rather no one ask them any questions, and they rarely reply when the media investigates. Engage Canada fights tooth and nail to mask where their funding comes from.

Even when asked directly about who funds them, they replied "we're not going to talk about money."²

If you watched Game 5 of the NBA Finals in Canada, you might have seen a 30-second ad from an organization called Engage Canada attacking Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer.

Where did the group get the cash to pay for a Toronto Raptors playoff commercial that could cost upwards of $50,000? The group is hesitant to say.

Tabitha Bernard, a spokesperson for Engage Canada, said in a written statement that the group’s ad campaigns are meant “to fight back against the dominance of corporate interests” on the airwaves.

The ad that ran during Monday night’s Raptors game accuses Scheer of “hiding something” and says that, if elected, he “would follow Ontario Premier Doug Ford” when it comes to health care and education cuts.

Speaking of "hiding something":

But Engage Canada was nowhere to be found on Election Canada’s list of registered third party advertisers as part of the 2015 election.

Engage Canada spent all of its advertising dollars before the election was called, meaning the group never had to register as a third party advertiser and disclose any financial details.

It looks like the group may be employing the same strategy this time around with Scheer, said Erin Crandall, an Acadia University professor who studies Canadian election law.

Interesting. Or to use the ominous new buzzword, "dark".

So, who might be behind all this dark money?
Unifor national president Jerry Dias asked union members to donate to Engage Canada during a speech made at a Unifor Ontario Regional Council meeting in December 2015, archived records show.

An executive member of the Provincial Building and Construction Trades Council of Ontario also asked their members to fund Engage Canada’s efforts.

“Partnering with Engage Canada, we could help reach more voters and defeat the federal Conservative government in the next federal election,” reads a 2015 letter from Patrick Dillon, business manager for the trades council, sent to the group’s many members.

When asked what relationship Engage Canada has with Unifor and other unions, Bernard said that “Unifor is one of many of Engage Canada’s donors.”

:147: Very "dark" indeed.

Seriously, do they think we can't see through this?

Not so dark....the third party interest groups were taking advantage of election laws before it becomes more restrictive on June 30th. Also airing an ad in the 5th games of the NBA Finals was Shaping Canada's Future, an anti JT pro oil interest group, .How about that?

group called Shaping Canada's Future ran an ad during the game that closely mirrored the 'job interview' attack ads the Harper Conservatives ran in 2015.

Shaping Canada's Future, which describes itself as a "free enterprise oriented" group, even hired the same actors for their spot.

This time, the actors are shown conducting a job assessment of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and concluding that he was "never ready" — a riff on the Conservative's "just not ready" tagline of four years ago. (Unlike the 2015 ad, this one makes no mention of Trudeau's hair.)

No one from Shaping Canada's Future returned CBC's calls, but corporate records show it's helmed by Douglas Nelson and based out of Calgary.

According to Elections Alberta, a Douglas Nelson was also the contact for the group Shaping Alberta's Future and the chief financial officer for Jason Kenney's winning campaign during the 2017 UCP leadership race.

Shaping Alberta's Future received tens of thousands of dollars in corporate funding during Alberta's recent election, including contributions from the oil and gas industry.

Not so dark? Goodness, I must be misusing hobbyguy's new pet word! How disappointing.

Still, it all seems pretty dark to me. Hidden behind the scenes, cloaked in secrecy, sowing the seeds intended to sprout and grow during the campaign, sowing them at a time when light does not have to be shed on who precisely is at work, sowing those seeds. So deliciously nefarious. I'm going to keep thinking of it as dark. Dark and ominous and spooky. Oooooh, shivers. And I like getting to use that emoticon, too. :147: These folk are trying so hard to be sneaky and clever. Please don't ruin the fun.

Seriously, though, do they really think we can't see through it?

The Dark Ones, rumour has it, are joining forces with the paid Digital Influencers to overcome Canadian conservative peeps.

After four long years of residing underground, breeding in their fetid aromatic chambers, they have been freed by their Lieberal Masters with the words "go forth and influence!"

....shivers indeed, rustled.

No one ever accused union leaders of being very smart. Unifor's stink is all over Engage Canada.

People can see right through that scown Justin's lies that are being peddled by his paid influencers.

You'll need a good set of chest waders to make your way through the deep poop spread on here by the scown Justin's army of liars.
