Interesting comment on Global news at noon from Vancouver. They interviewed a few people on this. The reporter said that one gentleman had a fellow coworker who was an immigrant ask why everyone was wearing those red flowers. He explained to the coworker what they meant. So there are many that don't know the reason behind it and they should.

I have a feeling Sportsnet is going to feel some heavy backlash. People have just had enough with this snowflake mentality.

I think Don Cherry is a horrible big mouth, he has never deserved a penny for his announcing.
I would rather live in a small town with 10.000 Don Cherrys, than with one no good slime worm that cries about how offended they are.

Here you go ex fans of Sportsnet. Send them a nice little letter telling them what you think of what they think free speech is all about. I did. [email protected]

Lol
Many born in Canada can't name all provinces and territories. Many have no idea when WW1 and WW2 took place.
Many have no idea Canada with just under 8 million population had close to 61,000 Canadians killed during WW1, and another 172,000 wounded.
You don't need an example of a singular New to Canada immigrant to find the ignorant we breed them in Canada every *bleep* day.

Next door the construction crew has had the ghetto blaster rocking all morning. Saws, hammers, compressors, laughing and joking, not a single poppy on display and not a moment of silence. I was watching the livestream from Victory Square due to a personal connection to that ceremony.
Is there a "you people" situation here?

It's a good thing Don Cherry didn't do blackface this Halloween otherwise people might elect him to be the Prime Minister.

Re: Don Cherry's false offensive remarks
Don Cherry has always been an embarrassment to Canadians and Canadian hockey fans. He has always been offensive and safe bet he turned off many new hockey fans. Also a safe bet sportsnet could be picking up a whole new slew of fans

safe bet sportsnet just lost lots of real hockey fans
Most of those "real" hockey fans are either in one of the irrelevant demographics (over 49 years old) or will be back before too long. This move almost certainly will be popular among people who have been turned off by Don Cherry's increasingly irrelevant and outdated attitudes, people who are in that valuable 18-34 demographic. This is almost certainly about money and key demographic audience numbers.

Absolutely.
But rather than accepting that truth, let's just keep focusing on some "underlining" words to be offended by.
