The new cabinet has some interesting "changing of the guard" aspects.

Anita Annand to defense. She did a bang up job in obtaining vaccines, lets see if she can deal with the systemic problems in the military. If Anita Annand can pull that off, she would have a decent shot at replacing Trudeau.

Melanie Joly will interesting to watch in foreign affairs. Lucien Bouchard will be proud of her.

The normal "top posts" have a distinctly different character. Finance: Freeland, Defense: Annand, Foreign affairs: Joly, Treasury board: Fortier, Justice: Lametti, Employment: Qualtrough, Natural resources: Wilkinson, Health: Duclos. Five of 8 are women....

That gets interesting as Trudeau approaches the sunset of his political shelf life.
The middle path - everything in moderation, and everything in its time and order.

Looks like Canadians are some of the most content people on earth.
LOL - "content" with what? We have a terrible government, leading Canada down a dark and evil path. There is no contentment here, whatsoever. Our current PM is an arrogant imbecile.
Canadians were tricked into returning the same failed party to power by two things. The lie that Trump Tariffs are the greatest threat of our lifetime, and an assertion that Carney has some magical ability to control Trump.

Shame on us.

LOL - yes only thousands of people died waiting as the Liberals dithered with their comrades in the Chinese Communist Party and the vaccines were delayed due to federal government incompetence. "Bang up job" indeed.

It's okay, no one expects Tories to be content right now.

I'm with hobbyguy on this, while Trudeau could hang around as long as there's no truly viable alternative on the other side of the house, he should not stay until he's no longer wanted. Plenty of examples of doing it wrong from the past, from his own dad, from Mulroney, from Chretien (inasmuch as he rounded on Paul Martin). I think part of his job at this point is to make sure there's leadership for the future and they don't end up with an un-electable dud (remember Ignatieff and Dion) at the helm when he's done.

Or NDP, or Greens, or CPC, or Bloc-heads.

Potaytoe, potahtoe, right?

In fairness, she may have had her hands tied. We know how Trudeau is about giving the illusion he respects someone's ability to do the job, if she's the correct gender... As long as she does what the PMO demands, she gets to call herself a cabinet minister.

And that is exactly the first hand account from Jody Wilson Raybold's book.

Trudeau jr. was/is just not ready.

It's surprising he still thinks people believe there's any altruism in his patronizing treatment of women after what he did to his first cabinet.

(Is "Indian in the Cabinet" a good read overall? Don't want to take the thread off topic. I'm hoping it's more than a rehash of the SNC-L debacle.)

An email I just received:
Dear Reg,

Justin Trudeau announced his new cabinet today and Canadians couldn’t be more disappointed.
Canadians are looking for a serious plan to address the inflation crisis.

Instead, Trudeau appointed a group of largely inexperienced ideologues who represent a real risk to our economic prosperity and national unity.

Trudeau’s latest cabinet picks shows he won’t stop rewarding Ministers who have consistently demonstrated incompetence and a lack of accountability.

And it’s obvious why. If he started punishing incompetence and a lack of accountability, he would need to start with himself.
If we can expect anything coming out of this cabinet shuffle, it is that Canadians will only get higher prices, higher taxes, and smaller paycheques.

Canada’s Conservatives are ready to get back to work and will hold Trudeau to account for his failed economic policies.
Canadians were tricked into returning the same failed party to power by two things. The lie that Trump Tariffs are the greatest threat of our lifetime, and an assertion that Carney has some magical ability to control Trump.

Yes. I'd recommend it. Only one chapter about the SNC debacle but it is reference a few times prior. The recorded phone call is in the book.
Without a doubt Trudeau tried to interfere with SNC.
The guy must have taken a page from Gotti ( teflon don) how do you get anything to stick? Just how many times is he going to apologize for one thing or another this mandate? Any bets?

Oh I thought it was the other way around.....JWR just wasn't ready for politics. Isn't that why she's out on the street and wondering what she could have done for her people from a position of power? She should have just stalled until the legislation came out that would have made her stance moot......but that there is politics and what's gone is gone. Too bad so sad Judy....but at least she has her golden parachute so there is that.

Seems to me JT is has grown politically and he's the exactly the politicians y'all wanted him to be......how you like him now?

Thx. I'm looking forward to reading it.

Trudeau has proven he's pretty good at the donning the teflon (tiny bad pun there), although I tend to think there are others with a lot more skill managing that for him.
