The last person to balance the budget was also a liberal. Since then many consecutive governments have gone deeper and deeper into debt. This isn't a Justin problem, this isn't a liberal problem, this is a "every person we elect can't find a solution" problem.Ken7 wrote: Dec 10th, 2021, 3:50 pmSpoken like a true liberal. such a poor photoshop, at least make it look realistic.
We had an election as the mandate of the government changed and the people should decide if the pandemic mandates set by the current government should continue. The people voted, Justin won and we are here today. For better or worse democracy worked and we need to live with the results.
Please don't respond it was covid, because excluding that he is still no where near balancing his budget as he promised.

The citizen angle is interesting to me. Because what does citizenship actually get people these days? In Europe immigrants and displaced are all over Europe. The borders didn't matter. But what we see actually matters - are corporations make obscene profits in the face of human struggle and downturn. Again - not affect the wealth generation at all. We may as well be citizens of consumerism.

Re: All Things Trudeau, Chapter 2
This was just another example of the Liberals' botching a military procurement. Chretien cancelled the EH 101 contract but ended up purchasing them for our search and rescue. They had tail rotor issues at the start but that quickly was sorted. They would have been a terrific anti submarine heli and Canada would have had them 10 years ago.Gone_Fishin wrote: Dec 12th, 2021, 11:00 am More blood on the Liberals' hands.
Jean Chretien cancelled the previous government's contracts to replace the Sea Kings in a bid for political points in an election. In the interim, many Canadian soldiers died in crashes of the aged, worn out fleet.
Then Jean Chretien finally ordered the Cyclone helicopters at an inflated price. Now these helicopters are cracking apart and have auto-pilot defects, and more Canadian soldiers are dying.
The Cyclone is a civilian helicopter designed to move people to and from off-shore platforms, not anti submarine work. Likely will cost so much more than what a fleet of EH 101's would have been. Include the half billion dollar cancellation fee.
The F18 replacement program is just another debacle under the Trudeau umbrella. They should have had a replacement sorted years ago and delivered by now.

Stephen Harper's government balanced the budget in 2014/15 with a surplus of $1.9 billion.
He also had surpluses of $13.8 billion in 2006/07 and $9.6 billion in 2007/08.
More Liberal revisionist history from our paid Liberal DI's.
Justin Trudeau PROMISED "small" $10 billion deficits for 3 years and an ABSOLUTELY balanced budget in year 4. We all know that went straight into the crapper as soon as he got the key to the vault.

Are you talking about the Sikorski civilian to military heli or the amazing search and rescue helicopters ( EH 101 designed for military) we currently operate throughout Canada?
Granted, they did have tail rotor hub issues to start with, but once that was sorted 10 years ago, I have not heard of any other issues. Heli's will always have snags, they are described as 10, 000 parts flying in close formation around an oil leak. Our Cyclones, I suspect will continually give the Navy fits.
I don't mind the Chretien era for the most part, I liked Paul Martin. Didn't like all of Harpers cuts.
It seems the liberals cannot get any military procurement right, even our time X frigates had huge issues when commissioned but that was when half here were likely still in diapers.

Harp's inherited a budget surplus and promptly got to work to reverse it. It's been a *bleep* show ever since.Gone_Fishin wrote: Dec 12th, 2021, 5:50 pmIncorrect.AlienSoldier wrote: Dec 12th, 2021, 4:28 pm

Harper's government said they had a a budget surplus but when all was said and done, it was another in a long line of failures.....8 consecutive deficits ....the only surplus given to him by the departing Liberals
I've already went over each year of the CPC's deficits with Mikest2.......This was the last budget before the 2015 federal election. The budget was supposed to be presented in February or March before the fiscal year began on April 1, but was delayed because of the steep drop in oil prices in the winter of 2014–15.[5] A surplus of $1.4 billion was projected for the fiscal year 2015-2016,[3] however this was adjusted by the new government to a deficit of $1.0 billion by end of March 2016.[6] This was later adjusted to $2.9 billion after reflecting a change requested by the Auditor General dating back 10 years' worth of federal budgets, specifically with regards to the discount rate methodology used to determine the present value of the Government's unfunded pension obligations
Edit to add: Found it.....

So you post a graph that shows Harper's surpluses, then try to tell us that the only surpluses were from Liberals. And you conveniently leave off the third surplus in your graph - you don't even try to be transparent!
C'mon, the Liberal boys must have better materials from Katie's desk than that! Or, in the alternative, and as usual, Liberals simply don't understand economics or how to read a graph, or are so arrogant that they think no one will check what they post.
The point stands, and you verified it: stating that Liberals were the last ones to balance a budget is a complete lie.
Conservatives had 3 surpluses during Stephen Harper's tenure. Justin Trudeau has never had ONE surplus, and has in fact racked up more debt than all other governments combined. And Trudeau has broken every promise to balance budgets and has over-spent every promised deficit.

So your saying when one government hands the other a surplus then the new government should own it? Thats kind of weird. You give Youtube and opinions while I give you graphics and information from valid sites.Gone_Fishin wrote: Dec 13th, 2021, 6:48 amAlienSoldier wrote: Dec 13th, 2021, 5:53 am

Trudeau can keep making deficits, most of my money is invested through non-Canadian accounts so it does nothing to me.

If you had any confidence in Trudeau's handling of the Canadian economy, you wouldn't have your money parked offshore.
You fell face first into that one. The hypocrisy of the far left has no limits.
