Yeah, "I'm going to phrase it this way..." (cuz I can't tell the truth and my last deflection didn't work). Why can't he just tell the truth about that email and admit the relationship? The only logical explanation so far is: the truth would be a problem for the Trudeau Liberals.

So, Marc, it’s a scandal you say, but just for the government, not for WE. I presume you mean the present government led by Justin Trudeau. A scandal for the Liberal government.

In this however, scandals are much like dancing. As the venerable adage goes, it takes two to tango. So if this is a scandal, and on that point you have declared yourself, who is the dancing partner?

Did the Liberal party and its leaders and close relations just drift by and mingle for a while, unannounced, unasked and unwanted? And the WE crowd, yourself and Craig included, just stood there gaping, wondering, what is this? Who are these guys, what are they doing here? Probably not.

Kielburger brothers say no investigation but need to talk to RCMP


Neither the Kielburger brothers nor WE Charity are under investigation by the RCMP but they also can’t fully answer questions about the RCMP contacting them because they have to leave it up to the RCMP to disclose such things. Is that clear as mud?

That was just one of the bizarre moments at the Commons ethics committee as Craig and Marc Kielburger appeared at the committee, their lawyer sitting next to them. The brothers were appearing once again to answer questions regarding how they ended up being chosen to run a massive student service program by the Trudeau government last spring.

The brothers had already been asked if they were under investigation by the RCMP, Canada Revenue Agency or the IRS in the U.S and had answered no. That’s strange because as recently as last week, their lawyer had written to the committee to say they shouldn’t be under investigation by the RCMP and a committee at the same time.

There was a near five-minute exchange with Conservative MP Pierre Poilievre on why Craig sent a message over LinkedIn to senior PMO advisor Ben Chin thanking Chin for his support in setting up the CSSG.

The Kielburgers have always claimed that it was civil servants, not politicians or political staff who arranged for the program, and they specifically stated that Chin played no role in establishing the program.

Why then was Craig thanking Chin for his help?

The reply was that this was about getting more LinkedIn followers and the message was written by an assistant. The brothers smirked a lot and made jokes about LinkedIn, but nothing in the testimony made them look good.

Like when New Democrat MP Charlie Angus asked why their budget for the CSSG program included $590,000 for rent, to be paid to WE, and a 15% administration fee for WE, despite claiming there were would none. After dancing around the answer for some time, Marc Kielburger replied with an insult.

Now, now, Gone_Fishin, no turning a "little" scandal like impeding a parliamentary committee from learning the truth into some kind of big deal. Surely you realize this sort of thing isn't a problem when the truth would reflect badly on Trudeau.

Prioritizing the political best interests of the party over the truth is what the Trudeau Liberals do! Everyone knows the long-term best interests of Canadians are of no real consequence when weighed against the fortunes of the Liberal Party of Canada.

Let's not confuse Trudeau's promise of transparency with the simple reality: if the WE charity was good for Trudeau's family and good for the Trudeau Liberals, that should be good enough for us!
