The CBC is probably one of the world's most balanced news organizations. If you watch and listen to CBC TV and radio, you will probably get a little smarter. It's not perfect, but it's pretty good.

I realize “defund the CBC” is a meme, but we have to ask ourselves why some folks wish to destroy our fact-based and noncommercial national broadcaster that has been part of the national fabric for 85 years.

First, some things you won’t see on CBC:

-A parade of backwater bumpkins telling you Coronavirus is a hoax and the vaccine contains metal fragments that allow the government to track you.

-Pillow salesmen claiming for months on end that some dude who lost some election, really won said election.

-Gab show hacks with lustrous hair and grade 10 educations assuring you night-after-night that climate change is part of the globalist agenda and current weather extremes are actually caused by bovine flatulence.

-Daily panels of elected MPs and unelected Senators urging you to believe Putin and Moscow rather than Trudeau and Ottawa.


The sad fact is, those who wish to “defund the CBC” have long ago given up news based on facts and rational thought, and fled to sources that “make stuff up,” offer endless conspiracy theories, and basically tell them what they want to hear.

The CBC has committed the cardinal sin of not reflecting their political views 24/7, 100% of the time.

And that, dear friends, is what makes “defund the CBC” both very sad and very dangerous.

These media sources have a slight to moderate liberal bias.  They often publish factual information that utilizes loaded words (wording that attempts to influence an audience by using appeal to emotion or stereotypes) to favor liberal causes.

Oh this gal here?.......what a great choice for Governor General. Thanks for pointing this out.

In an ideal world, the choice of governor-general should be above politics, and so far, so good. Praise has come from Conservative Leader Erin O’Toole and NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh. The Bloc Québécois didn’t have much good to say, but that was more about the institution of the Crown than Simon herself. Even Jody Wilson-Raybould, the former justice minister who is normally critical of everything the Trudeau government does in the realm of Indigenous issues, had praise.

This is what 11 years as a governor-general-in-waiting buys you — patience and credibility. The fact that Simon was seen as a serious contender by a Conservative, then a Liberal government is a good sign.

So are her impeccable credentials. As someone who has served as an ambassador, a cultural leader, a journalist and a constitutional negotiator, she has amassed all the skills a governor general needs for a job heavy on ceremony, diplomacy, communication and symbolism.

Simon’s familiarity with the Constitution is not a small thing. The governor general can be called upon to be a referee in times of intense political stress, as Jean was during the so-called “coalition crisis” between Stephen Harper and the opposition in late 2008.

Amazing what happens when you utilize the vetting process that was put in by your much smarter predecessor, rather than being an arrogant jerk and just over-riding them to appoint a complete babbling idiot who ends up resigning in shame. Amazing!!
