And this was why the majority were so thankful that they had an election coming and were able to kick out Notley and bring in forward thinking adults to take over again. In addition to global challenges, Alberta was definitely been negatively impacted by Notley’s narrow and brain-dead "vision" and short-sighted policies. Thankfully, now under the UCP, Alberta can still get back on track once now that Notley's been removed. And thank goodness for that.

And what exactly should they be moving towards? There will be roadblocks along the way, but pipelines will continue to be built and expanded. Oil isn't going anywhere and will be the primary source of energy until many lifetimes after we are all gone.

The sooner you accept that, the sooner you can get back to "livin"

What is "Alberta sludge"? This just seems silly.

There is some good news for Alberta, and the rest of Canada. Oil prices are up. All commodities up, especially crops - canola etc. etc. - and lumber. https://www.theglobeandmail.com/busines ... mmodities/

"The Canadian economy is getting a timely assist this winter from a broad-based upswing in commodity prices, helping to soften the blow from the second wave of COVID-19 and spurring talk of another “super cycle” in key resources.

From lumber to iron ore, soybeans to canola, just about everything has clawed back to prepandemic prices or multiyear highs. Excluding energy, a Bank of Canada commodity price index has surged 36 per cent from April, taking it close to a record."

SNIP

..lumber prices have soared to record highs. “It’s hard to find a negative economic indicator these days in our business,” said Bart Bender, senior vice-president of sales and marketing at Vancouver-based lumber producer Interfor Corp."

SNIP

"Another standout is agriculture. Between February and November, real GDP in that industry climbed 6 per cent – the strongest performance by a major industrial sector in Canada over the course of the pandemic. Over all, the economy is down 3.5 per cent."

So the economy is starting to look better. And that's with a lot of pent up demand that will be unleashed 3rd and 4th quarter this year? assuming (cross fingers) that most countries do well with vaccines. Certainly 2022 looks brighter.

We should all be happy that farmers, miners, the forest industry and even oil will be in good shape this year. We haven't had all of those looking good at one time for years.
The middle path - everything in moderation, and everything in its time and order.

Good news for Alberta as the great team running Alberta knocks $7 billion off the deficit forecast. Great job Jason and team! So great to see adults running Alberta again after those NDP children were punted out!
Premier Jason Kenney says a recent bump in energy prices in the third quarter of the current budget is helping the bottom line as his government prepares to introduce its 2021-22 budget.

The budget deficit was on track to exceed $21 billion this fiscal year, but Kenney said it will now be about $14 billion.

Alberta Finance Department officials declined to confirm Kenney’s estimate.

It’s been a roller-coaster ride for Alberta’s deficit this fiscal year, which ends March 31.

The deficit was predicted to be $6.8 billion when Finance Minister Travis Toews introduced the budget last February. But a global recession, the COVID-19 pandemic and an energy price war sent that forecast soaring to $21 billion in November.

“Thankfully with significant recovery in energy prices, our revised projection has come down in our last quarterly report to about $14 billion,” Kenney said Tuesday.

“You’ll have to wait and see on Thursday for our final projection for the fiscal year that is about to end, but it will be in that range.”

It sounds to me that this bullying started thanks to the NDP normalizing it. It's great that adults are now in charge after the great news the NDP were turfed, and can help this kid out. The best thing that could have happened for this kid and Alberta is the UCP taking over, and the racist and evil NDP being punted out.
