Once again the Liberals are off target.

They did it with the Registry years ago and it did not help Law Enforcement as they said that was the purpose. Police do not have time in most cases to run weapons checks when responding to calls.

Police suspect weapons are in every home, and it doesn't have to be a firearm, registered or not.

Make laws to support Police by automatically jailing Criminals who possess firearms as they do in the USA. Secondly when a firearm is used in a offence, the chance of Parole or early release should not be available. If sentenced to 15 years, you would do all.

Again if you were to penalize the offenders of using firearms unlawfully to are then on target. The stupidest thing about this issue is they are saying these weapons are not needed or used for hunting.

Although if our Indiginous people own them, they can keep them to hunt. Hmm...what am I missing by the double standard? One minute Trudeau stated these guns are not needed for hunting and then he makes this exemption.

Do not sell any gun to the Government.

The *bleep* Son of Castro - Strikes Again!!

Just wait - it starts with legally owned guns, then it will be anything that runs on a "Gas Engine" and they will be coming after your car, truck, RV, weedeater and lawnmower. Then your house and the rest of your money they haven't already stolen.

Seems property rights have no bearing anymore.

So much for "Oh Canada - The True North Strong and Free" eh?

What I find amazing are Liberals state they believe in Freedom and Democracy, but their actions and statements always prove just the opposite. The most important 2 letters in Liberal is "Li" ( add an e and you got "Lie" - which they are very good at.)
Compliance is a tool used by dictators, to take your freedom and never give it back.
Enjoy your new "Slave State"!

It will eventually( shortly after next election) be forced. The Cons really screwed up last round when Harper was in. They had a chance to make firearms ownership a right but they didn't do it. Now the Libs will have a free for all gun grab after the next election-when they get their second majority. The Cons...they will most likely never hold gov't again...- not even a minority. They had ample opportunity to elect a black female leader- maybe the only one that could put JT on the run...and they blew it.

Funny, one of the first posts is more gun control to stop people shooting each other over drugs.
Why won't it all magically go away now that the government wants to make it legal to carry hard core drugs for personal use.
Just go's to show our government has their head so far up their *bleep* they can see daylight.
Drugs should be illegal but here we go. Lets punish the law abiders and reward the law breakers. More useless tripe by our government.
Voluntary gun by back. Guess what ? Like the other 80% of now prohibited firearms owners i will keep my Ar 15.

I'm going to guess that you and all that want more gun control know next to nothing about firearms or the current laws and regulations around owning nonrestricted and restricted firearms in Canada.

You are welcome to prove me wrong.

The Liberal supremacists are up to their old tricks again persecuting innocent people for the crimes of others. The lessons of history are soon forgotten. Bill Blair says that “We do not arm ourselves in this country to protect ourselves from our fellow citizens. We rely on the rule of law, not the end of a gun, for our safety.” Yet he threatens Canadians with armed men and jail time if they do not comply with this ideology. The Liberals are true supremacists who believe their ideology reigns supreme over all others and anyone who challenges them faces armed men who will throw them in prison.

And obviously the rule of law does not extend to the ownership of personal property if the government can confiscate whatever they like with the simple stroke of a pen.

The OP nailed it... the gun laws we have now are more than adequate.

Even if laws were passed requiring law-abiding Canadians to give up all their shotguns, rifles, and registered handguns, the gang shootings and assorted other violent gun crimes we hear about every night on TV, would be completely unaffected. That's because the bad guys smuggle all the guns they need from other countries -- mostly from the US where they are quickly and easily purchased.

The use of an illegal weapon in a crime, or even the possession of one, should be right up there with 'Capital murder' when it comes to the severity of sentencing. And it's an easy crime to prove. Was the gun in his/her possession? Guilty. That'll be 20+ years.

If they can't get illegal handguns and other military weapons off the street, they should remove the miscreants who use them.

^^^ We need a leader that can bring 'common sense' back to the people...I know -dream on.
Back in the day before colour was invented-we didn't have the problems we have now even though every house had a 30-30, a .22 and a crack barrel 12 gauge.
Back in the day, no one cared about having a FAC or PAL and we used to bring our rifles on the school bus and put them in the gun rack -in the school. Then at 315pm, get on our buddies bus, and go to his family farm or wherever,- sometimes out to the reserve cuz we had F/N friends we went hunting with after school.
What happened?

So now if we are driving through BC with a handgun of some description, we can't go through a town that has a ban even though its on the way to wherever we are going.
I personally don't do handguns, so I won't have to adjust anything for this, but....
Hypothetically, if we are leaving Penticton-(that is handgun friendly) on our way to Kamloops- but Kelowna has a ban on them,... driving through town on 97 with a handgun would be against the law....um....how does that work?
Maybe it's time to buy a C-182 or something like that and start a small regional airline that offers flights throughout western Canada exclusively for firearms owners to bypass areas not friendly to them.

Vancouver mayor says he's banning handguns as soon as possible.
Spoke with a guy yesterday that sells handguns....he said almost all of his customers are in Toronto - all of the guns he ships goes to Toronto. They can't get enough of them there....he can't keep up with stock. They are sold before he even gets them in.

Have owned a few handguns legally and they were a pain in the *bleep* to transport legally. Actually sold my 357 to a police officer. 30 years ago bought a full choke 12 gauge pistol grip :135: to have when I took my dogs into the bush. Less hassle, hasn't been fired in around 20 years. Why keep it? You just never know.

Don't care anymore. Come take my guns, give me UBI and a place to live.

Speaking out about gun laws gets one labeled as a crazy person. People who think guns should be banned outnumber the people who want to keep their guns. You're not a 'forward' thinking person if you think guns should be legal.

Even people who don't care if guns are legal or not think people who are passionate about guns to be a 'little weird' and should just move on. Why get so worked up about something, right? They're "just silly things", right?

Unless you're living off-grid, First Nations, or depend on hunting for a living, be prepared to give up your guns in 10 years.

It is fighting a losing battle. Areas outside of big cities are just echo chambers for gun owners. Big cities sway elections in Canada and influence policy change, we seen this in our recent provincial and federal election. If Toronto, Vancouver, and a few other large cities ban handguns, expect to have a law banning them federally a few years later.

I agree with none of the new proposed restrictions but I no longer speak out about them.
